Re: Hydro brake mystery

BTW.. That particular view when selected on realoem for my model (5351) informs me that there are no parts for my model: Screen Shot 2018-06-29 at 14.30.30.png Don't know which year/version that would be but there are some noticable differences. For mine it shows this: Screen Shot 2018-06-29 at 14.2...

Re: Hydro brake mystery

Thanks Brucey for the comments about the document. I think you may be correct about adding a comments or footnotes section, maybe if anybody wants to share comments I could always incorporate it, that would also mean versioning. I never saw it as definitive because some aspects of the translation ha...

Re: Hydro brake mystery

Yes - I read that in another thread. Some people say it is just to cut down any aeration but it doesn't show up on for instance the E32's (well as far as the steel section being visible in the middle of the hose - see realoem image). In any case just running the power steering would by-pass the brak...

Re: Hydro brake mystery

Well thanks for jumping in Brucey, I value your input. An update from my side is possibly necessary as I have been busy with this for the past couple of weeks. Checked the high pressure lines again - they are all clear, no stoppages. Changed the supply hose from the reservoir to the pump. It's now a...

Re: Hydro brake mystery

Well Hornhospital if that's the case it's the first I've heard of a restrictor :-? . As I said, I've flushed all the lines anyway, they seem perfectly clean. It's the restriction aspect which makes me think of the regulator, it regulates what goes to either the steering box or the brake servo. In th...

Re: Hydro brake mystery

Thanks for the input VintageRacer. Update from my side. Had already fitted new belts and they were adjusted correctly. Managed to "borrow" a new accumulator, that didn't help at all but while talking to a contact at the local BMW dealer we came to the conclusion that as both the power steering and t...

Re: Trying to get hold of Front ABS sensor

Hi, I found a site in the Netherlands which suggests that the sensors for e23, e24 and e28 are the same https://www.e28.nl/product/e23-e24-e28-abs-sensor-pulse-generator-front-2/ . Of course this doesn't show up on most websites selling them. Then I found a reference to a more generic Bosch part num...

Re: Brake Warning Light (not Brake Lights or Lining warning)

Did you ever answer that film question Chris? I've been searching for a definitive solution for my problem and found the same grey film in my reservoir. Following a hint from the old Norm Grills FAQ back in the day I had installed a magnet in the reservoir and have noticed that most of the gunk was ...

Hydro brake mystery

Hi All, Read loads of posts here and other forums but still can't find anything to answer my brake problem. It doesn't fit with the usual symptoms. The shark hadn't run for some time and I replaced all the front brake lines a couple of weeks ago. The garage that did the obligatory test to be able to...

Re: pics of Sharknosemeeting 2016, Boxmeer, The Netherlands

Shows how much I use the forum these days :roll: Only just spotted this post and my car hahaha. The "Schwarzblau" one with buffalo hide seats Dutch mentioned. I had seen no notifications for some time and also just found out why - new forum software. It wasn't a bad meeting but not the best edition ...

@Duracell

Just realised that I met you guys at the Sharknose. I forgot at the time that this discussion had taken place.

@Kos

Ditto Bimmerfest

I'm going to have to catch the ferry your way sometime. Be nice to get a few guys from over here to tag along

I'll look forward to seeing some of you there then. I've also been going the last few years and this year as last I will be in the main hall by the Schmiedmann stand. I've got a few items from Schmiedmann on the car and Kenneth, the owner, appreciates my talking to potential customers. My Miller MAF...

OK - then that's changed in the last few minutes. It definitely didn't have anything when I posted. Thanks if you changed something. I noticed that "baders" on page 3 of the thank you topic also has nothing under his nam after donating.

I didn't have any problems donating from The Netherlands. $25 on 25th December (Christmas spirit :D ). Unfortunately I don't see it reflected in my profile level. Some members seem to be BigCoupe Supporter but I'm not sure if it still works like that. I know that on an older incarnation of the site ...

Well thanks for that Brucie, I just hope it helps others. It is almost a year ago since I did that bit and the old girl has had the engine rebuild and necessary work in the engine compartment. I'm now running the Miller MAF and chip and it runs as sweet as a nut. I had a valuation done for the insur...

Try looking on the Hirschmann website ( http://products.hirschmann-car.com/SepiaPIMWeb/ProductCatalog?treepath=2_362_1049_1050_705 ) they have a good selection of spare parts including antenna heads. They've even got a dealer finder for most countries. At the end of the day a replacement Hirschmann ...

Hello again, OK, reassembly is always more fun than disassembly but there is something in the middle which seems to consume the bulk of the total repair time. Cleaning and prepping is never fun and tends to try and get you to cut corners which would mean that it either just doesn't look good or that...

I promised Brucie that I would do an update if I completed this exercise and had anything to add, so here goes. As expected the whole system was horribly rusted and took some time to dismantle.
