Re: Gertie Nears Completion -S38B38 with 370hp+ now in my 633CSi

After years and years, (May 2014 to be precise) we are finally on the last leg of completing the engine install. The engine is in and on the weekend we did the cold tune and the road ECU auto tune. The auto tune was limited to 1st to 3rd and to 3000rpm. But the car is now running well enough to take...

I tested my injectors post an engine rebuild. 3 were stuck open and 3 fired intermittently. Make sure they are tested and working properly.

Re: Updating an M635csi Track Car to a Race Car

JPS, Was Class D (Historic) but they'll move me as I won Class D, C and B and was ready to rocket up Class A when the dip stick tube started shedding oil at its base. See car attached. Re: Updating an M635csi Track Car to a Race Car

I've got about 285rwhp. With a dogleg 5 speed and a 3.45 locked diff I'm at around 230km/h at 6500rpm. With that 3.91 you must be limiting top speed a little. For me, at the local track, I'm hitting top speed and then breaking for the first corner, so geared pretty good for the track. You may find y...

Re: Updating an M635csi Track Car to a Race Car

For those of you following on instagram the car is done, dyno tuned and results came back this morning. 270 rwhp on a dynojet. AFR's are around 12.8-13.1:1 and thats only at 6800rpm and the HP was climbing. I'll post pictures of the dyno sheets after I pick it up today. What's the insta link/addres...

Re: Good things begin on Jan. 12, 2009!!

Hey Phil, My springs and shocks comment was not really track related. I just like the look of a 6'er lowered 30mm and the feel of a slightly stiffer car. I think you'll end up with a great grand tourer with a good bit of speed. And something that can stay with a hot hatch and look far better. Lookin...

Re: Good things begin on Jan. 12, 2009!!

MM you have my disease! My 1977 633CSi did have around 160hp from its tired M30B32. But with a 5 speed manual I needed more. So; 1. 14 inch wheels went to low profile 17 inch. This made a big difference. 2. 2.5 inch single tube exhaust. Do this before the extractors. 3. New front sway bar. And then ...

Re: 85 euro m635csi & m88/3 timing chain - my project

No, no I don't. - Spoke with http://metricmechanic.com/ they actually convert to a single chain for less mass and faster revving. - As long a your guides and chain are in good shape the conversion is not necessary. If you read earlier in the thread this was addressed. You may be right, for a street...

Re: 1981 633 CSI Revival and Refresh

Agree with the above. Could also be a poorly working fan. Without a good strong fan these engines overheat quickly. The E30 fan is better than the fan on an early e12 based 6'er so you can imagine how important it is to get the fan right! My E3 racer scrapped its original fan for an electric fan fro...

Re: 1981 633 CSI Revival and Refresh

197F is around 92c, so it is getting up there although my race m30b35 gets hotter and my wife's X5 runs on the highway at 95c plus on really hot days. I've put the heat gun on my extractors (of the race car) and had 450c so it can get hot. Check your radiator and water pump. Otherwise, when not at s...

Re: 85 euro m635csi m88/3 - my project

I recon Brick is doing a great job. Some people pull the engine out, others do not. I don't think Brick's choice of engine in rebuild makes him any less of a mechanic. I'd hate to be working on an engine like this but then again, I simply do not have Brick's skill level. I've seen brilliant mechanic...
