Re: Fuel pump electrical connection
Update, the pump terminal connection was correct. Turns out the fuel rail was clogged with old gas residue. Injectors were probably the same. Flushed rail with carb cleaner. Some gunk came out. Filled it again with cleaner and allowed to soak for a while. Assembled the rail with the fpr after cleani...

Fuel pump electrical connection
Does switching the two terminals (-,+) cause the car to run for about 2 seconds and then dies? Replaced the fuel pump because it had died after long storage. Don't know if I connected the two terminals correctly. If I turn the key to on but not start, I get fuel. I crank and the car will start for a...

1987 M6 fuel pump relay location
Where is the fuel pump relay located? It is not located by the fuse box in the engine compartment. Does anyone have a pic where it is located. Thanks in advance.

Crank hub
I think Frank Fahey calls his a crank nut. I have one of his units installed on my 87 M6. His explanation is that at high rpm the oem crank nut distorts and fail. He states that his unit is stronger and will withstand higher rpm stress levels. I haven't tried to rev that high but I guess it would go...

Coolant temperature connector
Chris,
I want to make sure we are talking about the same connector. Your pictures seems to indicate we are. This a connector that is on the coolant return manifold on the exhaust side of the engine. Thanks for the information, Will try both parts to see which one fits the best.

Coolant temperature sensor switch
Does anyone have a good working connector for the temperature sensor switch for an 1987 m6? Mine is either not integral as moving the wires to it changes the idle speed quite a bit. My car also runs very rich. Just wandering if the malfunctioning sensor switch is not telling the ecu/ecm that it is w...

Catalytic Converter Replacement
Need to replace my cat on an 87 M6. Other than replacing with a very expensive OEM unit what other alternatives are there. There seems to be aftermarket replacement units but they don't have very good reputations. What recommendations are there just to replace the cat section and keep all the flange...

Clunking Noise
I need to clarify the clunking versus vibration I am getting. When I am in first or second depressing and engaging the clutch gives me the immediate clunk. Something sounds like it moving around in the back right afterwards. That is why I though it was the exhaust, sorta sounds hollow as if somethin...

Water from exhaust
My M6 spits out water droplets (initially) and grayish condensate everytime I start. It dissapates very quickly indicating it is just water not water/oil mixture. It would be slightly bluish if it had oil in it and it would linger for a while and smell like burnt oil. It stops as the car warms up. C...

Clunking in rear of M6
Have a clunking sound coming from the rear of my '87 M6 also. Happens when I depress and release the clutch in first and second. Sorta vibtates a little. Thought it might be the exhaust, but it doesn't touch anything. Looked at the diff mount. Looks brand new and all fasteners seem tight. If I have ...

Is there any type/brand of disc brake pads that either minimizes the amount of brake dust on the wheels or doesn't generate any dust at all. It is getting a little bit tiresome cleaning my wheels weekly just to keep them looking clean.

Got the thread chaser tool and cleaned out the threads. I tried to install the sensor and it still would go down all the way. Chris, the picture is from GWL's G280 not mine. The plug to the right is a sheared off plug. I have a female plug on mine that I have been trying to loosen to change out the fluid. I finally gave up and took it to an indy shop where they lifted it up and used the shorter BMW hex bit and a humongous ...

O2 Sensor
Does the O2 sensor need to completely seat on the bung for it to function correctly. Replaced my sensor today and the new one doesn't completely seat on the bung. They are the exact same part. The crush washer doesn't touch the bung lip. Should I keep tightening it until seats or am I risking breaki...
