Re: 1982 CSi Resto

Timing chain and guide removal without taking the head off is not recomended. It can de done but expect oil leaks to occur. You have to remove both upper and lower timing chain covers to clear both crank and cam shafts. The head gasket includes the area between the upper and lower covers so you woul...

Nice to be back somewhat Don. Still having fun with e24s, e28s and e12s so I'll be around while trying to keep my head above water. Thanks for the welcome back.

Re: WTB: Sport Seat non-powered bases

Kyle? You actually need the bases of Manual Comfort Seats. They have the same 4X6mm bolt pattern used by Recaro. There are several types of bases but the later ones are best as they allow for the Bottom Rear and Front Tilt functions. I have a set of these available but the Tilt Adjust Levers (they w...

Re: Craftsman Multimeter

Wish we still had a Sears nearby! I'd grab one! I take advantage of the coupons at Harbor Freight to get the free DMMs with any purchase. I have a bunch of them, because I'm forever setting them down somewhere and the can't find them. Eventually they turn up and get used and then moved and set down...

Frankenstein box received and intact. How you were able to get your USPS office to accept that is amazing. Mine would have told me to GTFO. 😂

Thanks Dave

Craftsman Multimeter

Picked up 2 of these at a local Sears. Normally $20 but marked down to $10

Everybody needs one for proper troubleshooting. I have 3 or 4 now for multiple sites

Best to provide a couple of pictures for color as some euros had Bronze glass. Rare but happens and somewhat in demand because shi... happens. Put a piece of white paper behind the glass to show the color better. GLWS

+2. But I wish you were on this side of the rock Carl. Perfect to stash away for future use and easily worth the selling price in parts.

Re: Which Rear Diff?

The torque required to break one output from the other side should be 25 ft. lbs for a healthy diff. Secure one side and find out how much torque is required to turn it separately from the other side To determine Gear Ratio (yours ahould be 3.07 as mentioned), count how many revolutions it takes for...

Re: M6 E24 won't start

Compression test: 5 cylinders have about 125 #5 cyl. at 100. It is perhaps a bit knackered, judging from those figures. Q. does the engine fire on eezy-start? If so (and you are certain you have good spark) then you have to look at the fuelling. If not then maybe the compression has passed the poin...

Re: Rear Crankshaft Seal Replacement

The rear seal job creates “Mission Creep” as far as you are willing to go As Steve C. points out, the rear seal carrier overlaps the oil pan gasket. The oil pan gasket also overlaps the front cover gasket so care must be taken when changing the oil pan gasket. Realistically, the front crank seal sho...
