Re: Drive 4 Corners 7th Annual - Aug 25, 2017 - Purgatory!

A mostly succesful trip for me but an absolutely wonderful first time. Tom and his group put together an excellent event in a stunning venue. I have a few pics but the ones below are from the highway between Durango and Silverton. Very nice drive with good corners but a few steep drops without guard...

Re: Drive 4 Corners 7th Annual - Aug 25, 2017 - Purgatory!

Thanks Tom. You know I've always wanted to attend. Still working on getting there but it will be on the fly with no real advanced planning!! I want to see Mesa Verde as well and use that to convince my daughter to go next year. Divine intervention is currently not necessary but I'm praying anyway Ra...

Re: refreshing those red seat belt release buttons

Trying to post a pic from my phone so please be patient. The pic shows the back side retention. Basically depress the button part way until you can get a thin flat blade under the base of the "E" and pry. It pops off from the base sideways then slides the rest of the way off until the end guides cle...

Re: 1985 M635 going up on BAT

My comment was easily predictable. No premonition necessary as the car is a beauty. I like how the winning bidder showed his intent with his large $$$$ chunk bids. He was not going to give up on this car. Well done Jim.

I expect the bidding to get hot and heavy in the next <24 hours. If I had the $$$ I would be on this car immediately.

Re: 1984 633CSI - Cannot shut of the engine.

The key position is critical when you are trying to put the ignition switch in place. The slots have to match up for the switch to fully insert in the hole and then the grub screw will fit right in. You may have disturbed the OBC relay which is near the connector block. Just above the stack of conne...

Re: Starter won't crank with ignition key sometimes...

This is what I have right now but the connector is on the side of the steering column after you remove the lower dash cover. You can see on the connector how the Black Wire is on the end of the plug and has a separator. A single Black Wire, with a female connector, plugs into that slot with the male...

First of all Dennis, please put your location in your profile. I can help if you are in the US. Otherwise someone else can help you but we all need to know where you are so the right person can help you. It's not difficult.

It seems E28/E24 owners tend to have both at some point in their ownership!
Some tend to go off the deep end and have e12, e21, e32, e34 along with those 2.

Yes Kim welcome to BC. We met at the San Diego e28 meet. Nice score and to echo a previous request, more pics please.

Comforts are easy to repair plus I have lots of parts for them. Let me know what you need when you get it figured out. Usually the mounting screws for the gear box get loose and the gears loose contact.

Re: Starter won't crank with ignition key sometimes...

Check the connector block on the side of the steering column. The starter trigger wire is black and connects separately to the connector block. Check the fit of that wire into the connector. If it's a little loose pinch the rear end of the female connector so that you get better contact when complet...

Re: Carb conversion

Early M30s (pre 82) ran the standard distributor with centrifugal and vacuum advance modules. It's not hard to find the parts but getting them to work properly for the best end result will take lots of time best conducted on a dyno. You may even find a spreadbore carb intake for the M30 as it was a ...

Holy cr...!! I'm collecting exhausts now. I know it's been several years but is that system still working for you Dave? Or did you forget you own another sixer??

Drawback to the OPs request is shipping these as they are heavy and bulky. Good luck with the search.

Connector is lower down the column. Meter there and see what you have. Big Red wire is incoming hot feed and the others go out to the various accesories. Black (Solid or with Yellow, I forget) is the Starter feed wire. If the car dies when that connector is unplugged then the iggy switch is likely. ...

Re: Sport Seat Harness

That is a memory seat you are trying to install. I have a few but I would cut the seat side connector off a non-memory seat and use that to make a jumper from the car harness to the memory seat harness. I wouldn't just cut the car harness and splice in the connector. PM to discuss.

Re: Is the 86 Electric Sports Seats Left and Right The Same

Driver seat with Memory will not swap with the passenger seat without more extensive work. Somewhat simple for the base as you would swap rails anyway and that section contains the controls but All Motor functions have memory so the harness parts will also need to be swapped. The headrest harmess wo...

The stitching will be different between e23 and e24. They can be swapped but you can also remove the arm rest from the e23 seat and try to fit it in the e24 seat. The armrests are side specific. It just mounts to the same holes as the upper section mounts but with longer screws. PITA to replace the ...

Hey Larry. The bottom separates from the rails by removing the 2 pins at the front hinges and removing the bolts at the rear hinge arm that controls seat height. Same process as electric sport seats that you should be able to find in some previous posts here.

That is simply for the Cold Start Injector. Just use a piece of FI rated 8mm (5/16 for USA) fuel hose with proper hose clamps on each end. PITA to access but more accessible by removing the main Intake Rubber Flex Tube (that is probably hard and brittle and should also be replaced). In truth, I woul...

Re: Ball joint separator

Always leave the nut on the threads (Flush) to push off of, since you usually get a replacement and it won't damage the threads. This and I will put a coin between the contact points so that the coin takes the damage. Works well with the units where a bolt end applies the force directly to the part...
