Re: Temp gauge sender Ohm values.

My temp sender and cooling system seems to work fine. It goes to 85C (about 59 Ohm) and stays there. The "overheating" was a faulty temp gauge in the cluster. Took it off the circuitboard and cleaned the terminals and ground, and it now works fine. (It used to wander up almost the red mark...

Re: Cruise Control

I had my cruise motor apart. Its a bit fiddly to put back together. Some springs and stuff that will frustrate you. Anyway it wasnt the problem. My connector to the control unit under the dash had come loose. Here is an excellent guide to troubleshooting the system if you havent seen it already: htt...

Re: Temp gauge sender Ohm values.

Just had a small breakthrough so I thought I'd post my findings. My car is an -84 euro and has the double connector type. Should be the same for all with the same cluster gauge I guess. Under the grot I found It is marked "VDO 803/1/22" This is nowadays called VDO 323-803-001-022D Acc to V...

The outer front corner of the floor area is very prone to rusting.
I had holes on both sides. (behind the front jacking points if look from under the car.
Sometimes not easy to see since it is behind the jacking point.

But if the car was parked I guess it not this problem.

My oil pan has a crack in the exact same place. It dripped oil on the garage floor so I thought I'd give it a go with "chemical metal" last time I changed the oil. Drained it over night and removed the oil level sender. Cleaned the pan up with brake cleaner really good and sanded with a co...

I painted my house recently and found out I had about 5 nests in the walls and under the roof. I found out that "ant dust" is very similar to what the professionals use. Ants and wasps are actually quite close relatives. Problem was how to deliver it 6m up in the air and in behind the wall...

This won't help, but I have a similar problem. My mpg gauge is intermittent (max or min sometimes depending on acc pos ) but my speedo is normally working. On one or two occasions I have seen the speedo die just at the same time as the mpg gauge so I believe it is the speed signal that is the proble...

He must have put quite some time into the modification at least. But obviously ran out of inspiration when it came to the air filter box..

But a great conversation piece it would be ! :D

E24 rebuilt with E32 front and rear end !?

This is kind of weird.
Rear end does not look too bad actually, but the front looks strange.

It has acc. to the text an E32 front and rear end, with E34 M5 front bumper and E34 sideskirts.

But they are probably not going to look as nice as in ron's pics ;)

My rear ones are more or less corroded away from the road salt and I probably need new ones wich I guess means changing the cv joints.

Wheel paint !

Spent a few days of my vacation repainting my BBS RC 18". They had a really dull silver finish from a previous repaint, so I thought I would freshen them up a bit. (Hope to have them back on the car later in the week when the clear has hardened :) ) First I sanded them down to 600 grit, which w...

The second problem I had was that the upper, removable circuit board was loose and shorted against the aluminium casing. This problem did't cause any burnt fuses, but simply stopped the signals to the display segments. In this pic you can see how close it is between the circuit board and the plane w...

Ok, just for future reference, I will post some pics of what I fixed: First pic is the Zenerdiod that was broken and shorted out the glass fuse. It is a "1N 5359B" diode that ca be found at almost any distributor of electronic components. The function of this Diode is to open "backwar...
