Re: Electrifying my '85 635CSi Euro

And finally, we get to the heart of the conversion, the 144V motor and 500A controller, good for ~85kW and 220Nm of torque (0-3800 rpm). It is 9” in diameter, 13” long and weighs 120lbs (55kg). It is also air-cooled for simplicity and can be paralleled with another to double the power of the car. W...

Re: 1988 US M6 Engine Air Inlet Parts/Part Numbers

The plastic parts are listed under the headlights but it does not show clearly whether or not there is anything different regarding attachment for the trumpet. The part number shows as being fitted from 1977 onwards for all E24s. My cars have not had that alloy trumpet, one had the plastic spout poi...

Re: oversized pistons for M90 engine

I’m running JE forged pistons in my S38. They were supplied by Steve Nelson at Topend Performance in the US. Steve organised machining to my specs and shipped them direct to me in Australia. Nothing was a problem for Steve, service and price were excellent and product quality is outstanding. The eng...

Re: New M88/3 Exhaust Headers from China

damn....l'd say these are exactly the same ones There are noticeable differences, the Chinese ones have very short collectors that will obstruct the flow at the merges. Also notice the pipe that turns through 180 degrees on the front, where the two 90 degree bends are welded together the Chinese on...

Check the return to tank line from the fuel pressure regulator is not blocked or obstructed before you replace the fpr.

Re: WTB Trashed 83-89 Heater Control HVAC Panel-FOUND

Contact Kos at /www.pukardesigns.com He's been very helpful in making one-off design decals when needed. Highly recommended. Roger edit:corrected errors Thanks Roger I’ll give him a try. The OEM part let’s the light shine through and adds the orange colour so an original one would be preferable.

Hi
I’m missing the “rearwind def” label from the top left corner. Is there one available from this unit? Please pm me if you have one and will post to Australia.
Thanks

Re: M30B35 from a highline

Unfortunately that engine has the wrong mounts for the chassis, and I'd rather have a drop in. It's not massively urgent, apparently it needs to be either early E32 or E24 highline. Koala Motorsport make an engine mount kit for this, see link below. You need to purchase both left and right side mou...

I made a manifold to replace the existing switch using a banjo bolt and then put the sensor and the switch in the manifold.

Re: braided hoses for brakes

Hi Richard The hose fitting in the front calipers is different on the M635 compared to other models. Make sure you get a kit specific for M635 M6 or E28 M5; if it says it also fits 635CSI then it’s not the correct kit. I bought Goodridge lines from the UK with the DOT labels and these passed rego ok...

Re: 85 euro m635csi - my project

If you have to cut the guide up to get it out then how do you get the new one in? From what I can see in the photos the damage on the crank nose caused by the key shearing is a bit of a worry. These engines have a habit of breaking the crankshaft right there and now you have some stress raisers in a...

Re: Timing Specs 77/78 M90 635CSi EURO

Can anybody please check what the factory timing is supposed to be for an 77 or 78 m90 EURO 635? I currently have it set with the 22 deg mark at 2200 rpm with both vacuum hoses disconnected and plugged. Engine has notable ping under heavy acceleration from about 3-5k rpm. Thanks in advance, Klaus Q...

Clean it up and after it dries blow some talcum powder around then start up and watch where it gets wet. It could be coming from the water pipe fitting on the back of the head.
