Re: Limp mode...

You could try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes. It may clear the fault.

Re: HIGH BEAM lens removal help?

Remove the trim rings from the outside. Loosen the screws and twist the ring a fraction to clear the screw head.

Re: Mystery speedometer mod

Looks as if it’s been fitted for quite a while. What is on the other side of the board? It looks as if something has been bridged with the fuse to protect it.

I always use one of these.

Part #17 is correct, but be aware that there is also a clip which is retained by a 10mm plastic nut.

Re: Hard to shift in and out of 1st/2nd/reverse - intermittent

Just “one of those things”, I guess. It never ceases to amaze me how mechanical components can fail in different ways. My vote was definitely on the clutch driven plate not disengaging fully. I don’t think I’ve ever come across uneven wear on either of the plates before (which one was it?)

Re: FS - UK RHD M635CSi #378

Very interesting. My vote goes with the speedo being faulty, as there’s little point in clocking a vehicle with such a high mileage. I’m wondering if it will reappear with a substantially different (reduced) reading some time in the future :-k I took a look at 4-Star’s website and it states the car ...

Re: E24 wheels

I think I’m correct in stating that there are two different BMW applications for the sunroof seals. One is a single-piece, the other consists of two separate pieces. Maybe this is what you are reporting?

Thanks for the reply. I'll stick to the 16's then!! I will have some reasonably good slightly worn 415GT TRX's (Michelin) for sale soon - just the tyres as I will keep the rims.
Please let me know when they become available

Thanks Brucey. I hope so. The guy took the ecu out and it was damp. He dried it out but still no joy. The mystery continues. Joe Wow, Damp ECU would be of huge concern to me. And VERY good reason to suspect there might be an issue there. How did it get "damp" Wow! Seemingly dead topic reanimated! I...

Next, I disconnected both battery cables and the engine just kept on running like normal. So the key and battery are both shut off and the engine is still running as if nothing is wrong!
Never a good idea to run an engine with the battery disconnected................

Not meant to be a critisicsm ,the car looks gorgeous. I just like to see metalwork . I've no doubt the standard would be high going by the quality of the painting/paintwork on the car. Nice to see it being done thoroughly , right down to freshly sprayed paint on the plug lead caps.... ......and the...

I'd seen those photos on another site but found it interesting that only the final painting was catalogued , no open heart surgery shown. Yes, but you surely must agree that they have done what appears to be an excellent job? Still, it would be wrong of me not to point out that the securing nut on ...

Judging by the name (an amalgamation of CLASSIC Heroes and Munich LEGENDS perhaps?) and a gallery featuring previous restorations of models such 02, E9, etc. they appear to be a historic BMW specialist Pics look good, but no asking price as far as I can see. I haven't heard of them either and could...

Re: Runs fine for about 15 minutes then dies

If Ron’s suggestion fails to work, try disconnecting the fuel lines and blowing them through in case you have an intermittent blockage. I had similar problems which ended up with finding rust in the rubber pipe which runs between the tank and external pump.

Thanks, how would the cluster two bulbs effect the gear selection lights at the bottom of the cluster? They also go out when lights turn on.

I’m not sure if it reached its reserve (quite) - however I looked it up on DVLA and it passed its MOT test in September  after a rusty fail a couple of months earlier. I wonder when it will re-emerge?
