Re: 1980 635CSi Euro

I got a new ICU and it seems to be working properly. Need to drive it more to tell for sure, but I'm hoping that was the cause of my stalling issue last fall. I also believe that the oil weight was too thick for the cold weather, causing the oil blowout. Just something to keep in mind when I try to ...

GLWS, you may have to consider. Bringatrailer or enthusiast auto group to get your asking price. Sounds like it is ready to go for the next owner!

Wheel weights for E24/E28

I found this on mye28 and then added to it. I thought it was worth sharing. The source for some of the figures. https://hitthewave.wordpress.com/2009/12/01/bbs-wheels-info/ I also organized by diameter and then weight. . . 14" Wheels 14x6.5 E28 bottlecap: 6.62 kg 14x6.5 BBS Mahle RA 190: 6.97 kg 15"...

Re: "Banana" inlet manifold.

I think the e21 intake runners on M30 intake give more torque and less hp. The M30 already makes good torque, so I do not believe it is a great upgrade unless you are doing other engine work. https://web.archive.org/web/20040405195345/https://www.firstfives.org/faq/e21_intake/320_runners.html https:...

Could be the automatic neutral safety switch relay that is preventing the starter circuit from being completed.

Re: Bilstein Shocks for sale

These shocks aren't meant for lowering springs, the B8/sport shock is what you would have preferred. But if you didn't like the ride, don't get the B8's as they are valved the same, just shorter overall height for adequate travel with lowering springs.

Are you sure it isn't from the oil pressure sensor? Does the M6 have a duck gasket that could leak?

Shame you aren't closer. I'd like to find one in my area for less than 2K and put the good parts on it from my 633 that got hit.

Re: 1980 635CSi Euro

With warmer temps, everything seems to be normal as far as oiling is concerned. However, the main item I wanted to test was the ICU overheated or something to do with overheating of the distributor as described to me by guru Dave Stackhouse. I had the car idling and got it warmed up before shutting ...

Re: Lemforder Upper Control Arm Bushing wrong size?

Certainly seems like they were forced in there and the sheetmetal bowed out a bit. I would try it but would not use them if there any side to side slop. I like Meyle HD as a compromise of cost vs lifecycle. You can get the replacement bushings for something like $40 and then press them into the stan...

That second photo is from my thread and is a 633 with early model euro bumper. I was seeing how the US spec trim would look on it.

Re: 1988 M6 for sale

Appreciate the feedback. Agree the car market all around seems a little slow. As for my asking price, I would simply say that this car was purchased in the price range of those BAT auctions and the difference with mine is that once the compression and leak down checked out on the engine, I gave a b...

Re: Losing 17" Alpinas for 15" rims. Need tire advice.

For a 7" wheel, 205 is preferred as it is a slightly narrower tire on the width of the wheel. That will give you better steering feel and slightly better response than a 225 on a 7" wide wheel. 215 could work as well, but Alpina/Hartge preference was 225/50/16 on 8" and 205/55/16 on 7" I use 225 on ...

I think you're running the oil cooler Ted ? Check the pressure relief valve in the oil filter housing. I do have the cooler. Since it is early housing, it is tough to see underneath. How do I check the valve? Can't seem to find any documentation on it... I did find this: years ago, m30 oil pumps ha...

Re: 1980 635CSi Euro

Thanks. I'll have to try the microphone inside the car next time. I couldn't make it this past week because of a strange issue. The most recent strange behavior is that when I start the car the last couple of times, the oil filter cannister blows out the oring seal and leaks oil rather than pumping ...

Re: Front seats in excellent condition

Good luck, but your price may be optimistic as a lot of people are looking for sport seats over comfort. The comforts seem to hold up a bit better as well.
