Re: Flywheel position sensor connections

The sensor end is the one that deteriorates and crumbles. I don't believe the plugs were cut off, but disintegrated like all of them do. The sensor mounting holes on the bellhousing are marked "B" and "D". The "B" one is the lower of the two (further around the bellhousing). B is the speed sensor, D...

Re: Help with high idle

Smoke/vapor test it. That'll find the leak.

One of many ways to do that:

Re: Help with high idle

Like Brucey has said many times, a high idle when all else is adjusted to specs points to only one thing: vacuum leak(s). Adding fuel won't make it rev, but adding air will, every time.

Re: No power to in-tank fuel pump

Do you think there's any chance the in-tank pump (or pickup if it only has one pump) is picking up trash in the tank, shutting off flow. After it sits for a bit the trash falls away and the fuel flows again? I've heard of that but never experienced it. Just a random thought.

Bryan, if your PMs are shown as being in the out box, it means the recipient hasn't viewed the message, not that they weren't alerted.

Nope. Transmission has nothing to do with the speedometer reading in a late model E24. It's read from the differential sensor.

Re: Gonna be gone for a while

Had the follow up appointment today. I'm going to be getting chemotherapy once a week for 6 weeks, then once a month for 3 months, then take a look and seeif it's gone or still there. That will repeat for 24 months.
The good news is that I'm rid of that catheter! \:D/

I am amazed. Things went so well they sent me home the same day! And Kathy is doing much better! Off of Oxygen this morning, transitioned to oral anti-clot drugs. May come home tomorrow! Thank you so much for the prayers! The pathology on my surgery will be back next week, and I'll get this wonderfu...

Gonna be gone for a while

I'll be absent from Bigcoupe (and everything else on-line) for a while. Not sure how long. I'm having surgery in a few hours. Bladder cancer. They think they can get it all first try. I'll be back with an update and prognosis when I'm able. Meanwhile, my wife woke up January 1 with severe breathing ...

Re: Window Drop Down on door opening

The system on the E36 coupe and cabrio (and presumably the sedan, but they don't have the window drop/raise feature) have a pinch protection circuit, but I don't know how it works. I assume it's tied to the amperage draw on the window motor.

How much have you driven it since the replacement? Mine went out on it's own about 30 miles after the new one was installed.

Re: Programa SI board install, and new electrical gremlins.

I thought the new Progama board might be faulty, so I reinstalled the original SI board and the same exact results. The engine would not turn off unless I unplugged the gauge cluster. Two days ago the car ran perfectly, other than the typical old SI board issues. So something happened during instal...

I haven't noticed any posting by Brucey in a while. Got curious and looked at his profile. If the records are correct he hasn't posted since late October. If it's been more recently than that, forgive me. Just checking to see if you're ok, Brucey!

Does it still have spark after it dies? I'm trying to determine if the whole connection between the engine and ECU is dropping out or just the injector connections.

I've always had trouble with the emotions around Christmas. Since I'm a Christian I love the holiday, what it truly represents, but I always feel like I fall short giving to others. Like nothing I can give, do or say really carries the love i wish to express. No, Nikki, an E24 isn't the key to happi...

Yup, those Hirschmann wipers are pretty pricy if they're BMW marked. Worth about half the asking for the brochures!
