Re: 5-speed swap: does it add to car's value?

From what I have seen in the US, it usually adds to the value. However, the collection of parts for the swap are worth quite a bit themselves.

Re: 87 M6 Steering issue, I've searched and looked diagnosed. Stumped!

No, but it can get loose there and cause clunking, thunking, and clicking. Have someone move the steering wheel back and forth while you watch the steering box. You'll see the steering shaft into the box move, make sure the output is moving as well. I'm guessing you will see that the shaft moves a b...

Re: Suspension Advice *Lowering Springs & Shocks*

I really like the H&R sport and Billy HD setup. Sporty, more firm that stock, a bit lower, but not to harsh of a ride. Improves steering wheel feedback as well.

Re: Fuel Pressure Regulator - Which one?

The underlying issue is that the shark started running real rough out of nowhere. I believe it is very lean. It idles rough and will barely move under a load. I have to constantly blip the throttle and ride the clutch just to get the car to go 5mph. I have parts to build an inline fuel pressure test...

Re: Fuel Pressure Regulator - Which one?

After additional reading and looking at a friend's '85 e23 with the m30b34, I have less clarity. I was almost sure that a 0280160225 (2.5 bar) was correct. But he has a 0280160249 (3.0 bar).

Can anyone confirm or deny that the 249 is the correct FPR for an '85 m30b34?

Re: Looking for E24 Race Car or Good Base to start

A race car previously owned by me and BJ Meyer (of Clownshoe Motorsports) may be for sale by current owner, I will check on sale status. It's an '84 Euro converted to run a B35. Located in STL, MO. Meets NASA tech specs, was run in both NASA and Chumpcar events Full roll cage, very nice (by Izzy's C...

Re: Help with Coolant Leaking from Cylinder 6 Maybe

Clean it and see if it comes back. You are sure it's coolant and not oil seeping from the valve cover? If you are sure it's coolant and it returns after you clean it, I would say you have a head gasket problem at minimum.

Fuel Pressure Regulator - Which one?

1985 635csi (US model) with the m30b34 of course, 059 ecu. Real OEM shows several different fuel pressure regulators, all but one of which are 2.5 bar. The other is the 3.0 bar FPR. Which one is the correct one for my car? I did quite a bit of forum searching and looking on parts websites most place...

Re: Rear Subframe Bushing Replacement... in car?

Ok, so part way through trying to remove the subframe bushings with the subframe still in the car, I scrapped that idea. Pulled the subframe out. It was more time consuming, but much easier to deal with. Bonus, the trailing arm bushings had been replaced by a previous owner and were in great shape. ...

Re: What did you do to your E24 today?

Complete suspension overhaul complete on the e24. Car only has 98,000 miles but the suspension was done. All new bushings (rubber), end links, H&R Sports, and Billy HD's front and rear. Car drives amazing now, very sporty but not too stiff. The 3.46 LSD swap also helped the fun factor. Now I just ne...

Starts the Dies - Issue Found and Fixed

Had a new no start issue out of nowhere on my e24. Car would start but immediately die, so I'll call it a no start. Started looking at all electrical, everything connected as it should be. Started with vacuum lines, everything good. Next checked ICV, it was vibrating, but then I noticed it was loose...

Rear Subframe Bushing Replacement... in car?

I will be replacing e24 rear subframe bushings. Surprisingly, I've never had to do this on an e24. I'm thinking I can do it with the subframe still in the car. Thoughts?

You could check the sway bar link bushings. They are easy to replace if worn. Control arm bushings are another wear item to check. If you're removing the strut, that's half the work to replace many other things.

Re: Rear axle carrier.

According to RealOEM diagram, the subframe is the only part that has "different versions". The only part I do not see listed on that diagram is the differential housing. However, I know it is not different pre-87 as all medium case differentials fit all non-M e24's. With this logic, I would say ther...

Check out all the individual shifter assembly parts on realoem.com. I believe they changed after 84 but I'm not 100% sure on that. You can look at the early then later stuff and compare part numbers.

Heater Control Valve Housing

I'm in need of the housing for the heater control valve. I've gone through two MTC inserts and now the plastic housing leaks at a seam. I'm just going to buck up for a BMW valve insert just to be done with this. I don't need the valve to be working, just need the plastic housing and the valve contro...
