Re: Rear left suspension sag problem

Dear bpoliakoff thanks for your answer :D , yeah the weight is about that heavy, I guess you're right, I think I'll just bite the bullet and replace the springs! (By the way I had a look at your total restoration project and it looks awesome 8)) As a matter of fact in the past few days I've been sea...

Rear left suspension sag problem

Hi to all :D , I hope you can find a minute to share your view on this sagging issue I have. 7 years ago I installed new Bilstein B4 shocks and bump stops on all 4 corners (I like the stock ride), after installing the LPG (5 years ago) I noticed a 2cm sag on the rear left (where the LPG tank sits in...

Re: power steering intermittently stiff

Hi maestro84! My issue with the intermittent stiffness of the steering (back in 2015) was fixed by replacing the seal between the steering column and the steering box, and by replacing the low pressure hose of the power steering, hope this might be useful info for you :-)
good luck :-)

Re: Steering slightly sticks to left or right after full turn

Hi tschultz! thanks for your feedback, one of the steering box's mounts had cracked a while ago and I got it fixed, so the issue must be caused by something else... Have any clue? thanks again :-)

Steering slightly sticks to left or right after full turn

Hi guys, thought I should do a separate post for this rather than inserting it in an older post regarding another steering issue.. My 6 has developed a new steering problem. After making a full steer to the left or to the right the car stays slightly steered in either direction :-k, then it evens up...

Re: thump/pop sound when steering

Hi guys, here I am again , after re-welding the bracket the thump sound while steering has been successfully healed. However another issue has arisen which had actually started while the thumping sound had initially showed up but I didn't heed it too much since I was focusing on the thump n...

Re: thump/pop sound when steering

thanks for you advice 87shark, as a matter of fact I have a very "cautious" driving stile 8-[ so I guess I'll stick with the "normal" bracket for the moment, but will definitely consider ordering one when the next order to Ed will be done!
Btw really appreciate your advice.. :-)

Re: thump/pop sound when steering

GRNSHRK and tschultz thanks for your advice :D , finally managed to get the bracket welded and all is ok again! That bracket reinforcement idea looks really good, definitely will do it if it happens again, unfortunately didn't have enough time to get it built this time round.. Thanks again guys, ano...

Re: thump/pop sound when steering

thanks Brucey! :D Just went to my mech this morning and had a look underneath, and yes, the bracket of the steering box had unwelded itself from the beam below, will get it re-welded and report the results.
Thanks again!

thump/pop sound when steering

Hi all! :D Today for the first time while pulling out of a parking place I got a "thump" sound from the front end while steering right, no sounds whatsoever while cruising and making slight turns, once I got home I tried steering right and left while stationary and the occasional "thump" happened on...

Yeah, I wonder if it was faulty to begin with or if it had been badly installed :-k ...
Here's a pic of the uneven wear on the clutch disc:

Great news! Upon inspection, was the friction material down to the rivets??
Actually not Pod, the kit was still quite new, have been using it only for two years, I guess it had either been faulty or badly installed, the surface of the plate was pretty obviously unevenly worn  ...

Re: Vibration at 60 and 120 Km/h (38 and 75mph)

Diagnosis from such noises is notoriously tricky, but not quite completely pointless trying I suppose. The whining noise sounds to me like a noisy diff (or gearbox if it is further forwards) but it could also be a failing centre bearing. BTW if the rear subframe is making hard contact (i.e. not via...

Re: A/C not turning on

Thanks for your precious help Baders! :D So I finally determined which is which, I also made a (risky) attempt at jumping together the two that are not ground in an attempt to bypass the middle slider (outside air), but unfortunately the A/C still doesn't come on (no light on switch) :(, already che...

Re: A/C not turning on

Danny. It is a potentiometer so you can test it with a multimeter. Unfortunately the BMW diagram does not represent the pot properly but you should still be able to test. One leg is voltage in (12v?), one leg is ground, and the third is the wiper output to the control unit. Thanks Baders, wow I rea...

Re: A/C not turning on

Hi guys, sorry to bump , but I really can't figure out which two wires I should jump in the outside air sliding potentiometer (the central slider on the HVAC panel). As you can see in the post above, there is a mismatch in number and wire color between my 6 and the BMW ETM for 1986, if I make ...

Re: Hard to shift in and out of 1st/2nd/reverse - intermittent

- Thanks Pod , by actuating rod trow you mean the one that comes out of the slave cylinder? As a matter of fact the slave cylinder was the first thing I replaced a month ago, would it make any sense since it happens only on a hot engine? Concerning the clutch pedal I must admit I didn't know that it...

Re: A/C not turning on

Hi guys, now I'm trying to jump the connector of the middle slider hoping that that's causing the A/C problem, but unfortunately the colour coding and number of the wires on my car do not match the 1986 ETM manual . Do you think I just should follow the wire color in my car and jump GN/BU and GN/BR ...

Re: Hard to shift in and out of 1st/2nd/reverse - intermittent

Thanks Pod :-), just checked today but no air seems to be in the system, I also changed the transmission fluid as a last ditch attempt but nothing changed.
I guess I'll wait and see if it worsens, then I'll post more results...

Re: Hard to shift in and out of 1st/2nd/reverse - intermittent

err  .. Maybe I've been a little too optimistic, issue is back again , I guess the master cylinder was bad anyway because the problem had disappeared for some time and was a contributory cause because now seems slightly less hard, but it's happening again, on a hot engine , it's intermi...

A/C not turning on

Hi guys! :D It started as an intermittent issue, air con not starting and light not turning on on switch, once it did start the system worked ok. Lately it has completely stopped turning on. And even if I do not press the air con switch, if I open the middle slider it produces no air, if I turn the ...

I guess you're right dwcains thanks :-) ... Just ordered a Bosch master cylinder, as soon as I get it replaced I'll post the results!
Hoping the issue is not my 2 years old clutch kit
