Re: Old Passport radar detector - still usable?

I asked a good friend of mine, do radar detectors actually work? Said the CHP calibrates their guns regularly and I have never seen any beat it in court.

Re: Radio/audio noise

I've heard of engine (whining) noise but not a stratchy noise, do you mean static noise? Here's a good site check:

Noise is frustrating, good luck

Re: Cabin fuel smell

From what I can remember, there's a small short black rubber hose (~2 inches long) above the intake by the throttle body (close to the firewall) that may have a leak. Even if the gas evaporated you may be able to see a stain on the intake. Hope you find it, good luck

Re: Good things begin on Jan. 12, 2009!!

Hey Phillip, When I smog my 89, the guy uses a flashlight and looks for everything and still uses the wand in the tailpipe. He even noticed my original cat. I'm sure if you drop in the M30B35 motor with the necessary smog parts, it should pass. If you had after market headers, you probably will not ...

The little metal S-shaped clip on the Coolant Reservoir

I'm in search of trying to find the little metal clip located on the coolant reservoir. It's clipped down by the side where the reservoir is bolted down. The clip's purpose holds the coolant sensor wire in place. I knew I had one before and just noticed it gone? Doesn't anyone know if these can be b...

Re: E24/28 Suspension

Hi GregNZ, There's been a lot of talk about suspension, you can scroll down and see lots of posts. With an alignment the front camber will be ok but the rear you will eventually have wheel wear so maybe look into an adjustable camber kit. Here's one post, almost half way down the page: http://bigcou...

Re: LED head lights

I've experimented and wasted a lot of money on different bulbs including Piaa etc. Many different bulbs do not give you good lighting especally in wet weather. When I came across HID's, I gave that a chance and never changed them since and that was 15+ years ago. The kits are all plug and play so ve...

Re: Loose Drivers Side Arm Rest/Door Handle

Is your sixer later in years like 88-89? If so, it may have popped out. The arm rest has one metal clip closer toward the door and closer to the handle (upper) where the mirror switches are located, there are 2 screws inside. You will need to pop out the mirror switch carefully then undo the 2 screw...

I normally disconnect the battery but I do connect the trickle charger on every other month or so to make sure the battery is fully charged. I've got an older BMW charger, which is no longer sold. https://www.bmwblog.com/2014/03/03/bmw-advanced-battery-charging-system/ The newer ones look much diffe...

Re: E34 540i Brake Upgrade

On my 89, I went with M6 front and e34 rear. The MC is original and it's a big difference, brakes flushes every other year.
Will upgrade the MC to the e23 when the time comes.

Re: Zender Spoiler Identification

It looks a bit short. I bought my e24 (white) back in 1995 and it was installed by the previous (original) owner. I left it on until recently. It’s for sale if there’s any interest, also have the extenders to mount it above the body/trunk.

you'll need to do some trimming, i believe you can use the oem cover or make one out of wood.

Re: New speakers?

as what olympia57 said. There are so many ideas from folks. It all depends on what kind of music you listen to and what you expect, nowadays you can even do digital equipment vs analog. Stereo equipment can get crazy expensive so if possible best listen to other E24 owners in your area to get a sens...
