Re: Front bumper rubbers

Inside the rubber is a channel that retains the square shallow headed bolts . If the bolts are very rusty they can lose their square head and therefore turn in the captive channel thus requiring the nut side of the bolt on the other side of the bumper to be cut off . The channel can also swell and d...

Re: What famous rock star(s) have you bumped into?

Late 90's we were on holiday in Rhodes and sitting having dinner my attention was drawn to a guy sitting in company close by . I just could not place him thinking he was someone from business back home. Exiting from the toilet I passed him on the way in and suddenly realised it was Eric Clapton. A m...

Sold. £6,100. Unbelieveable
I wonder if the buyer will conclude the sale ?
That's an astounding amount of money for what is a very poor example requiring some serious amount of work.
Is this really what they are worth in the UK now ....?

Re: Seat Bolt Rusted

If you can't get heat to it then try freezing it using an aerosol freeze . Spray/freeze then apply heat with a heat gun and repeat . All you are trying to do is break the rusted join between the two threads by expansion and contraction . You could also try hitting it with a hammer in a steady ,const...

Re: Niki Lauda 1949-2019

I was genuinly saddened to hear this this morning . He was a true ambassador for the sport showing grit , determination and skill that the drivers of today can only read about .
His era of racing where he and his peers displayed those attributes were by far the best and most entertaining .
RIP Niki .

Re: Starting with some new rims....

No insult Bert . It's a very subjective issue really . I looked ( too  ) long and hard into the tensile and ductile comparisons between the two materials and the SS was better ,albeit only marginally , but each weighed 0.8 gram less . Coupled with the fact that I live on the coast, and therefor...

Re: Starting with some new rims....

A good , as said , well tried solution . The RC090's are much nicer than any copy and are strong wheels . No need for any spacers just simple spigot rings for 74.1 to 72.5. If you do rebuild them you will probably replace the mild steel bolts . The BBS oe bolts are very expensive and have sharp edge...

Re: Pre '82 Hazard switch.

Ah ha... No good , correct switch but for lhd dash . The surround is reverse shape for my rhd car and does not fit the aperture. Re: Pre '82 Hazard switch.

A post script to this . As I said I ordered switch 61311359948 which was /is for the 630 model according to real OEM from my local main dealer at price of €30 . It is the correct one for my series one although not the one listed for my '81 635 . Slightly different decal on front but the facia has th...

Let me know if you’re still searching. I have a few. Thanks Ralph Thanks Ralph . The two suppliers I located in USA would not supply to Ireland stating it was to do with EU privacy rules ....? This lovely car has just passed its 31st MoT now that it is 34 years old. 5 more tests and it will be 40 years and no longer require testing according to current legislation, and thankfully it is in stunning condition inside and out and should be fine for another 20 years or more... ...but I most g...

Well after some lengthy searching I've found one supplier in CT USA and some squiggly place in Japan . And that's it .
It seems part number 61311359948 also fits ( 61311361825 shown in OEM ) so am awaiting reply from CT .

Re: Pre '82 Hazard switch.

This switch is actually for my car . Ron had came to the rescue sending me a couple of switches over but unfortunatley they were of the later rectangular shape . Interestingly in the link below it states that that part number fits cars to '89 . On my series one it has a circular button with a multit...

Very Nice early e24, Looks Great.
Is this Kaschmir #143 Metalic & Pergament #0110?
Yes it is . I've seen the combination on other cars but they had the black oe body stripe this being silver seems to lighten the whole car.
Thanks for your comment.

Re: What did you do to your E24 today?

After fitting the RC090's last autumn and finding them too eager to tramline I fitted new Kumho 225/45 's to the front . The cause was the tyres fitted were old although they still had deep tread on them. It certainly showed me how tyres deteriorate over time . The tyres had been on another car of m...
