Re: WTB Hella H1 Low beam lamps
What headlight buckets do you have? There are two types on earlier models,m prior to projector lamps on later models. There are the ones that hold the generic 3 x tab headlight inserts (common on USA models), including Hella generic halogen inserts. I think these use the chrome ring at front that is...

Re: Bilstein B6 - but which part numbers?
Bilstein B6 (for std springs, previously known as HD) Front: 34-002339 (old part number was P36-0233) Rear: 24-006088 (old part number was B46-0608) If you are using lowered springs, you need different shocks (Previously known as "Sports". I only have the old part numbers: Front: P36-0243 ...

Re: Engine differences
In summary, from the tech article mentioned: * Was the M30B34 engine used in Euro models all the way from 1982 till 1989? No - the M30 B35 came out in 1987 * Does the M30B34 without the catalytic converter used in Europe equal the same engine with the converter used in US cars? Similar but not the s...

Turns out the viscous fan isn't engaging...new coupling on order Does the electric fan only come on with the a/c? The electric fan has low speed and high speed, activated by two thermostats on the radiator. The white one turns on the low speed fan at 92 degC and the red one turns on the high speed ...

Are all BMW ZF 4HP22EH autos the same?
I'm having some issues with the 4HP22EH auto transmission in my '86 635. I'd like to understand my options for sourcing a replacement should I need to go down that path. Will any 4HP22EH transmission from a later E24 or from an E28, E34 or E32 fit the E24 without any mods? Or were there variances be...

Head Mods for Low Compression B34 worth doing?
After many years of slow oil leaks, my head gasket is finally gone – leaking water badly. Time for a repair.
Is there any point considering any head upgrades “while I’m in thereâ€

Re: Headlight upgrade problem and question . . .
To help my tiring eyes see better at night, I bought four aftermarket headlights to replace my halogen sealed beams. How I blow a 7.5a fuse whenever I hit the brights. The old sealed beams are 35w, so the 7.5a fuse would carry both. The new lamps are 60/55. I could replace the high beams back to th...

Simple? Nope. It's an annoying, fiddly job. It just keeps getting better... well hopefully that's not the problem. The intermittent no start has gotten better since my mechanic changed the wire that goes from the ignition to the starter and since I changed the ground cable on the battery (mostly th...

Thanks for the links Ralph, Don't worry: much research undertaken in advance; just very curious to see how much of an improvement it makes. The E28 crowd over here are very enthusiastic about the benefits, although they all seem to be saying the rear could be bigger (of course, the weight distribut...

I think the centers are all the same on a RC090 wheel. The rim is what changes the off set. You will need a new Rim/barrel. And they are BMW specific BBS does not sell the barrels, I have tried. You should be able to find just a single RC090 style 5 2 piece et 20 Wheel at a reasonable price. It app...

BBS RC035 or RC090 centre piece
Group, I Recently purchased what seemed like a bargain on eBay for a set of 17 x8 BBS style 5s only to find some mismatch between wheels. All rims are good but one has offset ET 10 whilst other three are ET20. Sooooo, I need a centre piece from an ET20 wheel that I can bolt into the RC009 ET10 rim t...

Well, I've never been able to get data concerning BMW camshafts that I know I can rely on for accuracy. But everything I've read on this and other forums, plus advice from Steve Haygood and others, leads me to believe that the B35 cam has approximately 10 degrees more duration and about 0.5mm (inta...
