Re: Getrag G280: Recommend me an oil

I have used Redline MT 90 for years without issue, It works better with the big box than MTL for rattle issues.
My2 cents

Re: 1985 M635CSi exhaust help please

That is a outstanding M635 sounds like it has a good home. I did a check for availability with these exhaust parts in ATLAS, looks like the rear muffler is not in stock anywhere but is not listed as NLA. The part # has a superseded part and I can't verify what that is as I am not at work to check, b...

I have had less than comfortable dealings with them in the past.

I will stay with Marshal at Double 02 Salvage in Hayward.
I have know him since he and Theo started the business and he always take care of my parts needs.

A Euro should absolutely have an M88 and that is an M88 valve cover, which won't bolt onto an S38. The VIN lookup must be squirrelly. Jose Almost would seem that way but... The vin lookup is right from BMW centernet Both my M635's show a S38 in the vin decode also. Seems the decode has no clue of t...

Note for clear info,

The M1 amd the M535i wheels are different.

M1 = 360mm # 32 33 2 205 848
M535i = 377mm # 32 33 2 205 849

The part # can be found on the wheel.

I worked at Hardy & Beck back in THOSE days and we took our conversion cars to Speedo Tach in Walnut Creek to have the KM/Mi transfer done and then the speedo calibrated to the car for accuracy. That's so cool that you used to do that. What was the deal with drilling those reflectors/sidemarker lig...

I worked at Hardy & Beck back in THOSE days and we took our conversion cars to Speedo Tach in Walnut Creek to have the KM/Mi transfer done and then the speedo calibrated to the car for accuracy. But there were alot of butchers doing EPA/DOT work back in the grey market era, i.e. SCAM ARTISTS, so lik...

That would be 7 qts. 5-30 synthetic
Pull the oil filter cap loose before draining the oil pan as that drains the filter housing back to the pan.

This is becoming more and more common with dealer parts dept. It is poor form to not support the classics. This muffler is in the fatherland and BMW list it in DCS net is $501.90. There are 64 avalible as of right now. BMW is blocking more and more parts for euro models. There is paper work involved...

I did use all three sections of the super sprint system for the M635. I wanted to not use all of it becouse of the cost, but to make any part of the system myself with mandel bent would have taken more time and the headers took alot of time to restore. I have no cats on this car. The system has no d...

Thanks for the kind words. I used the comlpete S.S. system, and the price kept going up. I don't care for the comunication when I was waiting for these 3 different parts to be avalible again, they never told me when they were avalible and the cost went up $350. It is a bit quieter than I would like,...

M635 Exhaust Restore

Previous work to add Cats. and poor choices by other owners left me with a mess of hacked headers and mufflers. The crime of substandered EPA/DOT work to euro BMW's brought into the U.S. that had no factory cats. has been a issue with all 3 of my beloved euro's. This is to show what it took to resto...

I do have this happen as BMW has quite a few small parts like that come in a bag of xx.
Some times I am able to work around it, (get the parts dept. to stock the part) some times I have a lifetime supply!!

I have a pretty good supply of parts at home for '80 era BMW's.
