Re: M6 missed connection

Ah thanks! I will check that out. I'm stopping by the legends of the autobahn, so hopefully connect with a few there also.

M6 missed connection

I was followed up Old Santa Cruz Hwy here in Los Gatos by a beautiful blue m6. Unfortunately I was in my Volvo 240 rather than my m6 at the time. We spoke briefly at the stop sign; if you want to go driving sometime drop me a line!

Really anyone in this area, come to think of it.

Re: Legends of the Autobahn ad

This event looks really fun; I'm thinking of doing the display ticket with my M6 -> would it be out of place in 'daily driver' (but clean) condition? I also have tickets for the historic races Friday, do you know if it's easy to jump between the two events in the same day if my car is in the corral?...

Re: M6 Front sway bar strut bracket breaking trouble?

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I'm going to go with metal fatigue as the frontrunner, check the strut insert, and also measure the thrust arms (drop links) to confirm they're correct. I'll go with a new bracket and perhaps also some boxing. I do not know what the arms/links looked like before the...

Re: M6 Front sway bar strut bracket breaking trouble?

Any comments on the sway bar bushings/mounts? The sway bar acts as a spring to keep the car somewhat level around turns. This rod twists and only the strut and the bushing take this load. I have heard of failure from use at the race track, but not in daily driving. Pictures would probably help us i...

M6 Front sway bar strut bracket breaking trouble?

Hey, I've searched around here and google so if someone has suggestions on this they are greatly appreciated! For the third time in as many weeks, the little bracket (circled in the attached picture) that holds the front sway bar (stabilizer) to the passenger side strut housing on our M6 has snapped...

Re: floored brake pedal fixed

Hmm a few brake flushes at $90 a liter and I may stick to rebuilding... ; ) @alpinacsi when we took them apart, it seemed the rust was not from hydrated brake fluid but rather water collecting in the 'step' which is covered by the dust boot (outside of the hydraulic part of the system), so we grease...

Thanks for the thorough sharing of the mechanics of valve overlap brucey, that helps my understanding greatly.

Re: floored brake pedal fixed

Haha, that's my brother's thread on myE28. He goes into the real detail. Same car.
I'll let you know if packing the rubber seal full of grease helps them last any longer this time round. How many years do you guys get out of these weirdly designed brakes?

Re: M6 failing smog fixed

Yep California smog. First they made our 80's diesel dump truck illegal and they seem to be doing what they can to kill cars too.

M6 failing smog fixed

Expecting to pass smog easily as in the past 4 times, I was hit with "gross polluter." After, that is, the first shop declined to smog because it was old, when did that start happening?? This fell into complicated diagnostic realm for us since the MAF, O2 sensor, and temp sensors were all ...

floored brake pedal fixed

The M6 was binding the front brakes again about 8 years (&60kmi) after brake system rebuild. My brother and I took out and rebuilt the front brake calipers but after bleeding on reinstall... brake pedal to the floor. Pressure bleeder from bavauto. We bled it a few more times and maybe a tiny bit...
