Re: Lseat Seat Covers. Too Good to be True?
I bought these for my Jag. I was mildly disappointed in that the leather is laminated or veneered, doesn't smell like leather and feels kinda cheesy. I suspect it's the same kind of "real leather" you find on some leather sofas these days and my worry is the top layer will peel off like yo...

Re: E24 getrag 6 Spd retrofit.
That t56 is huge. I can't imagine it would go without major surgery but idk. Just put one in a C3 corvette, tight fit. I'll go check out the guys in Sweden, sounds interesting. I stand corrected, it seems there is room in the e24 with a little massaging with a 3lb hammer. Still a big heavy trans beh...

Re: Starts, runs 30 sec, idles very rough and dies
Possible it is running only on the cold start injector (unplug csi and it won't fire off at all). Main injectors not firing etc... check crank sensor for pulsing with ohm meter (ecm uses this signal to fire injectors) and voltage at injectors when cranking and or running. Ecm breaks ground on the in...

Re: Mystery Speaker Pods?
The upgrade sound system (can't remember what it's called) has the 2-way speakers in the center of the pod with a removable grille. Thing is the space behind the speakers is so small that the speaker is underdamped and has no bass response to speak of. I cured this in both my cars by cutting a 6&quo...

Re: Fuel expansion hose / new tank?
Braided hose is VW fuel line. Warning.. not good for FI fuel line but OK for vapor line. Radiator shop, as said by another member can do tank repair as they solder rather than weld. Myself and another fellow did repair on mine by welding after it had sat for 2 years. It blew a fireball at least 6 f...

Re: Tired of lowered car
Like Brickwhite said, tires make a lot of difference in ride and handling. A bit more rubber on the rim in a better quality tire would help the ride and maintain good handling. I prefer 16" wheels on these cars personally. Dunlops have been good.

Hey Ken and Nigel, Haven't been keeping up and haven't been on the forum in a while so I didn't know what you guys were dealing with. hesitation on acceleration
Both my 635's (87 and 88) do this for some reason and I've never dug into it other than checking for vacuum leaks, but I thought I'd pose the question here for some thoughts. The best way to describe it is the same symptom a carbed car would exhibit if it had a bad accelerator pump. From deceleratin...

Brucey I'm glad this thread was resurrected as I had never seen it. But I do want to say that you are broken car mechanic God! As many times as I have patched something up to get me home (starting with a 64 Beetle when I was a kid) I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have thought of this fix. 6er Rotors will...

I know a lot of guys don't agree with this, but I pressure wash the engine bay of every vintage car I have (excepts restored ones that don't need it). Brian, The link went to the BC forum page, nothing fishy there. And the only link back to her is the email address above. I got another one from her referencing another post on another forum IIRC. It looks to be harmless as it is, they just want you to reply to the email address. I deleted that post...

Re: behr wing cell compressor rebuild
Guys,
If changing the condenser to PF, and freon to 152a, would the wing cell (rebuilt of course) be an improvement over a sanden compressor? And what would it cost to rebuild the behr?

Gents, the one in Dean's photo is actually the factory stock US version series I charcoal vapor canister :-k Here's a shot of mine, 1980 vintage, showing the exact same model type \:D/ But I doubt that this is related to the problem with gasoline in the boot, however [-X Think I would go with the p...

Re: Gasoline in Trunk
Is it possible that a non trivial amount of gasoline could have crept up through the evap lines into the trunk? Yes! And with the bubba evap modifications it's probable. Like Dean says, it would be easier to put it back original. Parts like the evap tank under the rear glass would be easy to find u...

Don't look back my friend. These cars are cheap to purchase compared to many other sports cars. Do keep that motor and the parts you mentioned, but since you now have more funds to work with do yourself a big favor and buy the best one you can afford! You want no rust ever, not one that had rust and...

Re: Fuel tank pumps/lines/Ethanol
So, you mounted this in tank and just took out the old inline pump? yes, much easier to troubleshoot also! Mount this pump to the existing pump hanger (swap in/out lines), remove external main pump, leave main filter and re-plumb hoses as needed. It's not as hard as it sounds. Do a search first, gu...
