Re: Power steering glitch

Check your belt tension to see if it's slipping? If possible have someone watch the belt in the engine bay as you turn from lock to lock. Especially at full lock in either direction and when the vehicle is cold.

Re: Which clutch kit??

Which flywheel are you going to use? E34s came with a dual mass flywheel and need a specific clutch. Also that transmission pictured does not have provisions for the bellhousing reference sensors a lot of the cars need, unless you have an 88 or 89 motronic, or L-Jet car.

I have a few euro m30 oil coolers taken off e24s. Do they cross with the M6 unit?

Re: 1983 635csi Christmas Car

Did a few more things. It’s an early 3.5l car so it has the weird cap and rotor. Was going to replace but i only had the later style motronic cap and rotor. Cleaned everything up though. Swapped in a set of magnecor 8.5mm wires. May back date it to l jet style distributor. I had put in a set of WR7D...

Re: 1983 635csi Christmas Car

Nice. With the dogleg you will need to look at diff ratio. Otherwise you'll top out on the track. but, more than likely you have a nice tall diff. Nice looking car. I've tracked mine and they are a hoot. I’ve got a 3.07 and 3.25 limited slip for the manual swap. My brothers m535i has a dogleg and w...

Re: 1983 635csi Christmas Car

Have tackled some maintenance. Replaced the leaky water pump with a new one plus new hardware. Noticed the cooling fan was closer to the radiator than I usually prefer, both transmission mounts were sheared, exhaust side cylindrical engine mount collapsing forward. Replaced all those. New spark plug...

You can see the e32/e34 v8 brake booster mounted in front of the fenders in that car. Note no detailed pictures of the engine bay. The non hydro boost power steering reservoir sticking up at an angle too.

And the oil pan should be fine.

Re: HELP Need California Trusted Shops

I'm really prepared for anything. At the end of the day, you only get one first car, right? Mind-swell build it the right way. Cool! It'll be a neat project then. Best of luck. Much appreciated. I'm waiting on two local shops for quotes and two indies.. One I really trust, he does all swaps for e36...

Re: HELP Need California Trusted Shops

The drivers side exhaust manifold is the big issue with that swap. Plus relocating the brake system and abs pump. The m70 is an easier swap because the width of that 90* v8. It will basically be a custom fab job. Are you prepared for $20K plus to start at a decent facility? I'm really prepared for ...

Re: Blower Replacement with Bosch

Suspend the motor over a pot with boiling water. One side of the blower cage dipping into the water at a time. I used two long chop sticks or kebab skewers. Warmed up the plastic enough that the cages were easily removed. Make sure to mark the depth they are installed on the shaft so you can replica...

1983 635csi Christmas Car

I have been looking for a 635csi as a project for a while and had the opportunity to pick up a decent example. 3/83 production 635csi 10:1 motor, 4hp-22. Originally agate green metallic, resprayed poorly in RED! with overspray. But it's presentable. Brown and Pearlbeige interior with Recaros Came wi...

Re: M635 and CA Smog cert

I’ve gotten several m88s through CA smog in the Bay Area using a resistor in line on the coolant temperature sensor. It richens up the mixture on the 055 enough that the NOx levels drop enough to pass on the rollers. Remove after smog, as vehicle will not run great. I have used the 560 ohm. Also wor...
