Restored Alpina B9 motor, CR dogleg box, 3.07LSD (Tentatively sold)

I have a fully restored Alpina B9 motor FS. The motor came out of a B9 that was a total loss car (flood damage). It’s essentially a long block (no intake, no exhaust, fuel, ignition). It currently has an E9 oil pump and sump, which would need to be changed out depending on the target car. I say rest...

Diff vent cover from early sideloader

I need a diff vent cover (cast aluminum with a black plastic cap). Has to be from an early e24 with the side loader diff. Ideally this would be the vent cover with the pipe for the external reservoir but I could live with the non-reservoir cover too (USA models did not have the external reservoir). ...

I would have thought it most important if it was destined to go into a genuine Alpina car sure that would be best, but that's not the case. It will be installed in a car has a lot of genuine Alpina upgrades, but these were not done by Alpina at their factory when the car was new. If I could find a ...

Value of an Alpina 3.5 motor (fully rebuilt)?

Guys, I have an opportunity to purchase a professionally and fully rebuilt Alpina motor out of a 635. I do not yet know if it's a B9 or B10 variant. The seller has paperwork documenting the authenticity of the engine, and the documentation matches the internal parts (engine has been disassembled on ...

But I have a difficulty in squaring this with the recommendations of plug makers and the experience of others. I've been working on my own cars for close to 40 years and I would NEVER put a steel plug into an alloy head without copper or nickle anti-seize on the plug threads. TORQUE: all my cars us...

WTB: coolant hose "bracket" 11531277934

Need the "bow" (pn 11531277934) that supports the coolant bypass hose that goes from the thermostat housing back to the T-nipple near the firewall.

These are NLA.
Anyone have one they can sell me?

Okay, sounds perfect but

We have a rebuilt side loader diff from Metric Mechanic. /quote]

Sounds idea, but I'm almost afraid to ask what you want for it (MM rebuilds are usually big bucks).

Sorry, here's more info

I'm restoring an E9 (old 3.0l coupe) for dual-use touring and occasional track days and auto-x. I realize this means it'll not be optimized for either but I have a real race car for serious track fun. It currently has an open 3.64, and a stock 180hp motor. The powertrain will be upgraded to around 2...

ARI in CT

Much thanks. I've been driving the car for 20 years, I've invested a significant amount in it mechanically, it's running better than ever and realize restoring it would be expensive. That said, does anyone have any recommendations for a shop in reasonable proximity to metropolitan NYC? Automotive R...

265/5 trans

Not totally rare. A 3.07 is standard ratio with a dogleg close ratio gear box, They were in E3,E9,e12 and pre82 E24s. Going price or a good one should be between $450-$650 depending on how lucky you get That was my understanding. And, I've gotten some flack for the 265/5 dogleg CR gearbox being wea...

I'm afraid that may not help you though :(
Thanks but this is being combined with a 265/5 (CR 5spd), so I want the tallest production option which is a 3.07.

You might also post in MyE28.com. That's gotta be a rare beast you're looking for, though. It's an 'economy' ratio even higher than the usual standard E28 535i/is that was a 3.25. Finding one with LSD has gotta be damn near impossible. Good idea, I'll post a WTB there. I thought this was the most c...

Looking for a 3.07 sideloader LSD in established good condit

I'm in the market for a 3.07 LSD (early side loader) that is known/confirmed good condition. I'm in the East, but don't mind paying shipping from the west coast. TIA
