Re: 1984 633CSi Rises again!

I replaced my rear exhaust with a used aftermarket one from Elias Gergey. It was rusty inside but the pipes and shell were intact and the resulting sound not much different. Since NY has no emission check on cars over 25, I eliminated the cat. This interior of the cat had come apart and was rattling...

Re: Group interest - rear light frame seals

I am wondering if we reverse our thinking. Scan the body sealing surface and scan the taillight mounting frame and somehow combine the two? Fanciful idea as I'm not in the 3D scanning biz.

Ric,
The weather strips are awesome. Is there a technology upgrade to the bulbs (LEDs) and the reflectors that can be incorporated?

Re: Complete tail light units

Ric,
You might want to consider a kit with just the seals in addition to a complete light fixture. Are you thinking about replicating the lenses too?

Re: Heater only works on full.

Per Digikey's website, the 2n3551 is obsolete and they only have about 50 of the substitute which is no longer manufactured. It's 2N5301 and it's about $6.i may buy a few.

Get a 5 lb fire extinguisher at Costco. Cheap protection until it's all fixed up.

Multiple layers of Dynamat then add a custom carpet. Perhaps someone parting out a carpet that can be cleaned and redyed.

One aspect of refinishing is to preserve the "pebbled" texture. Think of it like stamped concrete.

Possibility is that the rubber cups in the master cylinder are deteriorated and that a complete rebuild may be needed. Not a fun project.

Tire covers

My 6 sits outside under a cover but it doesn't fully cover the tires. So I bought a set of 4 (Kayme brand) on Amazon with an aluminized outside and fuzzy inside. You've seen them on RVs. About $29. They've held up so far a protect the tires from UV, but not ozone. Every bit helps as 14" Micheli...

Next time I need to wrap cables in a non-wet location, I would double up the tape by folding it sticky side to sticky side. That way there would be no adhesive on the increasingly fragile wire insulation.

Re: My 6'er

Rewrapping the electrical cable bundle from the fuse box to the cabin with Tesa 51036 tape. The original wrapping was a non-sticky cotton cloth that was falling apart. So about 10' of 25mm tape and a hook tool is needed to do the job. This tape is fuzzy on the outside and slightly sticky inside. Thi...
