Re: what paint to use??

POR is like an epoxy sealer. It stops rust from spreading by sealing the surface thus preventing further oxidization. It sets up like concrete once it dries which makes it resistant to chipping.

What are you expecting. With any bureaucracy that creates piles of rules , the only way anything gets done is by setting up a back channel.

Re: UK EU referendum

I have to admit the I saw the same thing. My parents moved as young Doctors to the UK so you can call me a non native Brit. Neither I or any other member of my family claimed any type of income assistance (including child benefit). My family certainly participated by taking advantage of a quality un...

Re: UK EU referendum

As they say "be careful, you might get what you ask for"
This is likely to get more ugly as times moves on. I suspect that many EU bureaucrats would want to make an example of Britain so that the next country doesn't try it.

Re: what paint to use??

Go to tractor supply and buy their hardener to mix in with the oil based paint. Rustoleaum is an oil based paint and will air dry. It could take a while depending on how think you applied it and the temps outside.

Re: ATF fluid for hydraulic system

Jack, People do that a lot with the SLS and Hydro systems on the Mercedes Benz cars like the 450SEL 6.9. It's cheap but not ideal and usually causes a bouncier ride. If the system is leak free, flush it and go back in with the OE stuff. with the amount of driving we do in these cars, it becomes inex...

Re: UK EU referendum

Thank you. From my perspective, the EU has a lot to offer. The problem that I hear most about relates to concerns about the number of people moving to the UK to take advantage to the generous welfare system. I tend to agree with the consensus. I visited London a month ago and was gobsmacked by the n...

Re: UK EU referendum

Not sure where you are in the world but your grammar suggests that you are either in or from the UK. No means a big fcuk off NO as far as the vote goes and it would take a Prime Minister with bigger attire than these below to say to the voters " Well you voted for out but I'll get a better dea...

What about the usual old vendors like German and Swedish and Euro Car Parts in Wembley? They used to be my go to source in the 90's.

Re: UK EU referendum

I'm surprised that it has reached the US of A! The ex-pats usually pay attention to these sort of things. From my perspective; sometimes you have to be prepared to walk away in order to get the deal that you want. The exit vote does not necesseraly mean that Britain will exit, but it does mean that...

Great effort. The hard thing about rust is that the more you cut away, the more you find. I've often thought about shipping the rust free German bodies that I usually scrap over here back to Europe. I've asked around however but have not gotten much by way of positive feedback.

Unless the X5 is a diesel, I would not use it. Diesel oil is high in zinc which could damage the catalytic converter.

Re: Purchasing a "Salvage Title" Six

I'm a salvage dealer so I hope that I can answer here without too much speculation. Salvage titles are issued when an insurance company buys the car from the owner and sells it on to a salvage dealer (hence considered a total loss). Salvage dealer can either dismantle, sell onto another salvage deal...

Is there a way when the filler (what ever you choose to use) is setting to emboss the surface? You can get a stamp that has the grain which you press into the filler material while it's still not set up to give it the grainy look just like you would on those concrete walls to give them a faux stone...
