The two different engine mount designs.

Hello, I'm about to change the engine mounts on my M30B35. Currently I have the "grenade" shaped mounts 11811132793 installed, but they seem to be NLA from anywhere. RealOEM gives the cylindrical shaped mount 11811128932 as an option. Is this a direct replacement? Is one or the other bette...

Re: Proper cold storage tips for the Shark needed.

Thank you for the replies! A lot of good points. I have a family member who will check on the car from time to time and also recharge the dehumidifiers. I think I'll leave the old oil in it for now and change it only after the storage period. The current oil is about 1,5 years old but has been drive...

Proper cold storage tips for the Shark needed.

Hi! Unfortunately I will have to store my Shark in a cold barn for two years. The temperatures will vary between about -30 celsius to +30 celsius. I would like to hear some tips on how to do this properly. 1. OIL I will change the engine oil before storing the car. After the initial oil change I wil...

Thanks for the advice.

It's a good point that when unplugged the servotronic will operate at a default setting which will not necessarily be the same setting as with a non-servotronic gear. Hadn't thought about that.

Servotronic gear box in a non-servotronic car?

Can I replace my non-servotronic steering box with a box with servotronic connection and just leave the electronics unplugged? Does it fit? I have the later model steering gear where both of the hose connections are on top of the box. It seems that only servotronic rebuilt models are available at th...

SI board lithium batteries' voltage under 2V - Still working

Hello, My SI board's lithium batteries' voltages are 1,66V and 1,79V. The board has some mechanical issues (gears) but otherwise seems to be working quite well. Someone said that the batteries are not strong enough if the voltage drops under 2V. Should I change the batteries just in case, now that I...

Where is the fuel hose supposed to go?

Hi, I worked on my engine and had to disconnect the fuel hose (13311272750, part nr. 3 in the diagram below) from the activated charcoal filter. It's been about six months since I did this and yesterday when I started putting everything back together I couldn't find the hose anymore. I'm sure I left...

Thanks for the input! I'll do as you suggested and continue using the original wires. By the way, I measured the resistances of my ignition coil. The resistance between terminals 15 and 4 was a little under 6000 Ohms, so according to this site it should be OK: http://www.hiperformancestore.com/Motro...

Ignition wire sets, which one should I use?

Hi, I've got two OEM ignition wire sets for my M30B35 engine at the moment. I removed the first one from my Shark and I think it's been in use since 1988 when the car was made. The other set is unused, but has been sitting in storage since 1987. I measured the resistances of the wires: ORIGINAL WIRE...

Thank you, I think your code is correct.

My gaskets just look different than in the image I posted or in RealOEM. Mine seem to be thicker and completely white and they're made of some sort of fragile material that crumbles when a little pressure is applied on them. Maybe they're not original parts.

Heat cover (?) part number for the M30B35 engine.

Hi! I'm not exactly sure what they are, but I think they are some sort of heat covers for the exhaust manifold. Visible in this picture just above the manifold (2 pieces): http://www.bmwe34.net/E34main/Maintenance/Engine/Data/valve_picture1.jpg Mine are in a pretty bad shape and I'd like to get new ...

Thanks for the replies! Luckily greasing the rails seemed to help. After repeatedly pressing the tilt button the sunroof slowly started to open (about 1mm per one press) until it suddenly opened fully. And yeah, when I tried to open it on the freeway at about 60Mph it opened without a problem. Don't...

Sunroof won't tilt up.

Hi, I've owned my E24 for two years now, and the sunroof has been working perfectly until this morning. It won't tilt up. I can hear the motor buzzing, but the sunroof only twitches a little. It closes down and seals nicely and also the sliding mechanism works well (opens and closes). Does anyone kn...

Floor mat set.

Hi, I'm looking for the code of the original floor mat set for my '88 635 CSi (automatic), color anthrazit. RealOEM doesn't give any codes with the VIN number of my car. 51471914406 is an anthrazit floor mat set, but several sources say that it only applies to cars made from 09/1982 up to 09/1985. I...

Odometer / tripmeter acting very weird.

Hello everyone, My 1988 E24 with an automatic transmission has a very strange odometer problem. I bought the car used a couple of years ago. The odometer had been tempered with, as it showed that the car had only ~60000km on it and that clearly wasn't the case. Soon I noticed that the odometer and t...
