Re: AC evaporator

Maybe I'll try to find a scrap evaporator box and search after measuring.

AC evaporator

Has anyone found a better (parallel flow?) Evaporator that fits into the stock box?

Re: 89 automatic erratic downshifting into 1st

I remember MBs doing this, but it doesn't do it constantly. Also, when it kicks down to 1st it's too abrupt.

Sometimes it stars off in 1st fine.

89 automatic erratic downshifting into 1st

I've been off the forum for years. My 89 has a long time issue of occasionally starting off in 2nd gear and then downshifting into 1st. Other than that it shifts fine. Kickdowns are fine. No slipping on upshifts. Connector on transmission is clean. Adding a can of mouse milk to the transmission didn...

Brucie, I didn't realize you "wrong siders" didn't get decent ETMs. Ours over here are very good!

The price you pay I guess. :-)

If you have an old BMW, you should sleep with the ETM under your pillow. Seriously, it's a great tool and free!

Re: Fuel pump in boot floor m6

The Carter pump looks to be an excellent replacement. For now, it's installed on the old bracket. I'll put it in the tank and try it out to see how quiet it runs.

Re: Fuel pump in boot floor m6

So, for now I got a Carter pump to experiment with as a replacement for the VDO pump on the in-tank pump assy. The Carter pump has a metal body, same size outlet as stock and is US made. I think the only difference will be that the return line will not be inside the screen. I suspect the Germans put...

Seat back swap?

I have power comfort seats in my '89. I miss center armrests. I picked up a pair of e23 seats. Wondering if anyone has swapped seatback frames before? My leather is good and the seats look about the same size. I'll strip them soon. Maybe just weld the e23 armrest mounts into the e24 seat backs?

My '89 didn't have one but my Sanden compressor works fine without it.

Fuel tank pumps/lines/Ethanol

So, my dodgey in tank pump has me wondering if there might be better components for these than the OEM parts.... especially considering the prices.

Re: Fuel pump in boot floor m6

In-tank pump in my '89 is going out. $450 USD seems like a lot. Anybody have a PN for a replacement pump itself? If memory serves me with old Volvos we had an inexpensive Delco replacement part (maybe Chevrolet Vega application? ) My in-line pump is still good but I've never tried the single pump co...

Re: Help Identifying a Foha Spoiler

Dean, my 2 piece spoiler came from the UK and extends past the trunk on both sides. Most of the ones I see here don't go beyond the deck lid. It's a BMW part and I found installation instructions on the web with PNs.

Anybody know who got which?

Re: Performace tyres upgrade

Old tires were about 6 years old. No checking, but getting old and tired ( like me ). Costco ordered me a set today. 3 day. I've always been happy with their prices/services. Nitrogen fills now too. The e28 group around had a weekend run to/around the Texas Hill Country. 2 of us were in 635s. Amazin...

Re: Performace tyres upgrade

Hey Jose!

I'm about to reshoe my '89. It has 16" rims and I'm about to go with the Pilot Sport AS 3+ too. It has 225/50 16s on it now and I think I'll stick with that size. Like you, I run those on other csrs too and like them.

Re: Eprom Swap- does it really matter?

I talked to Conforti a year ago about those gains..... He said all his records went to Turner when he sold that product line to them, but admitted 40+ hp seemed like a lot. I'd spend the $ if I had any confidence it was anywhere near that.

Re: Air Condition Gas Type

I converted and mine blows colder now!

Reseal the ducts in the dash.
Running 2 PF condensers
Used a 7 piston Sanden compressor
New hoses.

Both front and rear units will freeze you out.

I still have to get around to finishing the e39 fan swap.

Re: Slow Temp Rise

Dean, GM actually sold it for a while. Big with the MB guys.... especially Diesels. It's available in bulk from chem supply places, ethnic markets, etc. You do a detergent flush first to get rid of any oil ( nonfoaming det. like dishwasher stuff) rinse, citric acid flush, then a couple water flushes...
