Re: Brand “new” 1989 635

Congratulations on your purchase. That was a good buy for a relatively low mileage car.

I had a Bronzit Beige E34 5MT with beige interior. Excellent color for hiding the dust and staying clean. Cheers.

It's a good handle so no need to change it.
We're both doing well. We had a conflict (Napa tasting) for the last C&C but we'll try to make the next one. We'll be at Legends next month.

Hey Bob - If you can track him down, maybe you could make him an offer. Alternatively, you could go with "VRDSHRK". (Always better to be a little less obvious).

Thanks Bobbo,
About 18 months ago I replaced the tires with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S. It feels like a new car!

Mustard Season in Napa Valley

Just over an hour north of our home is the beautiful Napa Valley. From the end of January through March is the mustard season with a carpet of beautiful yellow flowers throughout Napa. It's a beneficial vineyard cover crop that keeps the soil healthy. We drove up on Sunday to enjoy the great weather...

Spotted a shiny red M6 pulling out of the Blackhawk east gate on Camino Tassajara in Danville about 1pm today. No rear license plate and it took off quite fast with black smoke trailing behind.

Re: 30 years ago, Bobbo bought the green shark, sight unseen

No worries Bob. Interesting story re the 1977 Euro. Fjord Blue is a really nice color. Here's a great story about the new "Fjord Blue": https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1188354 My first BMW was almost a 320i as well. I comparison shopped with the RX7-SE in 1980. The RX7 w...

Re: 30 years ago, Bobbo bought the green shark, sight unseen

The Green Shark is looking great. Pretty interesting story especially the owner willing to drive it from NC to NJ. What about the rest of the story? How and when did you acquire the '77 Euro? I think the first BMW I remember seeing was an orange Bavaria back in 1975 (Cleveland). I have a NC to NJ st...

Saturday, November 23 -- At noon, I saw a red Sixer on Russell Ranch Road in Westlake Village, CA. He was turning in the opposite direction as I exited the parking lot across the road.

Re: Sport Seat "Hinge" Covers

Bob,

I responded via PM but was unable to upload a photo of the two covers.

Part #52/10-1934 670.1 is on the left - looks just like my passenger's seat right hand (outside) cover

Part #52/10-1934 682.1 is on the right - looks just like my driver's seat right hand (inside) cover

Re: M series color on steering wheel

I bought my car new and the M Tech steering wheel had the tri-color M stripe on the center spoke.

I think I saw an auction on BAT recently and the steering wheel had M stripes on all 3 spokes. :-k It looked a little weird.

Bob, I have two black sport seat hinge covers that came with a couple of black sport seats (horrible condition) that I bought a number of years ago to salvage some seat gears (not sure of model year). The part numbers are close but do not show up on the list of parts in your posting. The hinge cover...

Escort has always had a trade-in program. You should be able to order a new and improved model and get a $40-$120 trade-in value. https://www.escortradar.com/pages/trade-in-program I purchased a new Escort several years ago and tried to take advantage of the trade-in but couldn't find my old detecto...

Congrats on your retirement. Speaking from experience, you should have no problem keeping busy and filling your days. Good luck with the move. I haven't (yet) been able to convince my wife to move away from the Bay Area. A bit of financial advice - don't start drawing your Social Security until at l...

Re: North American bumper corner wanted

I had my front valance off for a re-spray In October 2016. The shop found that the left front covering was in perfect condition but the right front was rusting on the inside. I located a new covering from BMW and just decided to replace it (my OCD cost me $232). It looks like both the right and left...

I have my owner's manual clear bag from 1985. The bag is clear on all sides and the manuals slide in from the middle after opening the bag. There is one additional pouch on the back that I use for the registration/insurance card. I slide these documents in from the top. This may be a tough one to fi...

Nine 9s?

Nein! Only eight, as I screwed up the reset #-o. Although I could count the last one that flipped upside down. It's taken 33 years, 8 months and 26 days to reach this milestone. We've been down to two cars for the last three months so I'll be driving it much more at least through the end of the year...

I think it looks pretty good. However, if you want the "BMW" bumper filler you could try the source I used a few years ago. I saw 'front bumper filler strips' advertised in the November 2014 Roundel (p. 122) and ordered one at a cost of $33. I had to trim it slightly but otherwise it fit w...

I encountered another Delphin Grey 635CSI while driving south on 680 in Walnut Creek. I caught up and we exchanged waves and thumbs up. He continued south after I exited in Danville. He had a Diablo Motors license plate bracket which is a local dealer in San Ramon. Perhaps he's on the board and will...

Re: ABS SENSOR / BOSCH PART NUMBER?

I had the left front ABS sensor installed today. The OEM sensor had an overall length of 45" and the new Advance sensor was 30" long. My mechanic had to modify the wire harness and stretch it in order to reach. He rewrapped the harness with cloth tape and reattached the harness to the body...
