Re: FREE M10 copper lock nuts for exhaust manifolds
Bobbo, I'll take you up on your offer. I see they appear to be for the downpipes as Bert mentions. I will eventually be there... I just fit up the manifolds with the copper M8's hand tight and trying to decide if I will install the six single manifold gaskets or the one with the heat shield integrat...

Re: Interior truck sound absorber panel refurb
I haven't replaced either one in my E24s, but I used Dynamat in my E30s. Worked great. For some reason I don't think Dynamat is the correct application for this. This sits in the trunk below the rear parcel shelf. I believe it is tied into the vents to the rear of the of the back side windows and i...

Interior truck sound absorber panel refurb
What are Y’all doing to refurbish the foam insulation? This goes in the truck below the rear window. Seems it’s no longer available.

Began to install the insulation and sound proofing on the floors. I compare it to putting a screem protector on your smartphone. You have to get the placement right because it is not coming off to adjust

Re: Dry ice blasting
Dry ice blasting seems to be the easiest most efficient way to clean the underside for sure. I had my car on blocks so not possible to bring it to a shop for that service. The mobile service was too expensive for what I needed. I even looked into a dry ice rental blasting unit but needed a high volu...

The sandblasting occurred over a 35 to 40 year period I'm sure... should be called "roadblast" insteadhornhospital wrote: ↑Tue Jul 11, 2023 4:18 am I must have missed something....when did the sandblasting happen?

Re: undercoating question
While I would not consider it “professional”, I have been getting good results with a product I found online called Al’s Rubberized Undercoating. Other Coatings Archives - Al's Liner (alsliner.com) I am working on my own in my garage so am limited to what I have at hand. I used Al’s because I could ...

Re: Are these original wheels?
I have an unrestored set of RS007 wheels. I envision finding a set of barrels and lips to replace the 415 mm with a 16" fitment.
I think these wheels look the best.

Kind of hard to tell exactly what goes in the circled area... but I think they are called called body nuts or nylon nuts and look like the ones pictured. I found an Ace Hardware shop Long Beach, CA had an assortment of different sizes. I picked up a bag of 10 for a few bucks that looked like the rig...

Thanks Olympia- I sourced the heat shrink from Amazon for around $10. Just make sure it is the one with the adhesive. The one without is quite thin.

Refurbished hand brake cable sheathing
Trying to finish some things under the car while it is mostly apart, I tackled the hand brake cables today. Originally I was going to leave them in place and use cable wrap (the stuff you'd organize electronic cables with) but ended up removing them from the car and using marine grade adhesive lined...

Re: Kidney Grilles
Bob- Yes, I spent a few hours cutting and drilling on rivets to get a close match to the look of OEM. The problem is the rivet gun I have, also a Harbor Freight one, is not narrow enough at the business end to get between the slats. My (untested) solution is to use a machine screw that corresponds t...
