Re: E12 m535 exhaust system same as 635csi 1980

OK so after taking another look at realoem, it looks to me that there are two different systems that could have come on both the e12 M535i and the euro 635csi First I looked up M535i, this is the page on realoem: https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/partgrp?id=4701-EUR-10-1980-E12-BMW-535i&mg=18 It show...

Re: E12 m535 exhaust system same as 635csi 1980

Hi Gentlemen, To answer this question properly I'll have to post some links to Realoem etc. There are actually two different sets of downpipes for either car and on the M535i two small center mufflers and on the 635csi one long center muffler. I know for a fact the two diff sets of down pipes are no...

Interesting post here. I remember when your car was for sale, I was quite interested in it. It looked like it was in very nice shape. Maybe you should post pics and details for the brotherhood here to see and enjoy. Good luck with it all Rob

Re: M90 Engine Or Not?

Like Bert says his 81 doesnt have the raised water jacket but I think all early ( like your 79) M90s have the raised jacket and 3.5 embossed. My 79 635 has the raised water jacket, white L and my Vin is 5547084. I would say the engine has been changed out for an NA b34. Unless you've missed the jack...

WTB. AFM. 0 280 203 004

The AFM in my 77 530i is acting a bit weird, the door has a weak spring, then a strong spring action partway into its swing. Its also rubbing and squeaking as it closes. 0 280 203 004 is embossed into the black plastic cover. According to Realoem this is the part no 13 62 1 362 648 I think it was us...

Those seats look amazing. And they are actual e24 seats with the seams going the correct way. Nice work. The best is yet to come when you sit in them for that first long drive and you don't get that comfort seat slouch and old man backache getting out. Congrats. Its got to make your car that much mo...

I have a rough set of wipers, motors etc, but the two no 11s are crumbling bits of rubber. Think I saw Brucey was using shrink wrap on his wiper resto thread on here.

Re: Approximate G265/6 value?

This may be some indication of where 265/6 prices are or are headed. A proven operating unit for $1500, not cheap but maybe cheaper than an unproven unit for $1000.

Re: Course to fine spline swap

I'm pretty sure I've seen it mentioned a few times as something someone did. Finding a used late steering column would be pretty easy. Pulling it from a yard car would give you an idea of what it would be like to re&re your existing one. I'd wonder about turn signal/ wiper connections.

Re: Approximate G265/6 value?

This reply may be a little late. IMO a decent looking 265/6 that spins nice and smoothly with no crunching, cleanish oil, and not too much lateral play in the input shaft which is the achilles heal for these transmissions would be worth $800 or up. Bell housing is a bonus worhth maybe $150 and up.

Might it not be better (less hassle) to buy new? I bought some not that long ago, but maybe they have since been declared N/A? I almost certainly have my old set somewhere, but might struggle to lay my hands on them. But if you are desperate I would be willing to have a go at looking. Phil, it woul...

WTB . Used Headlight wiper blades

I've been working on a rusty crusty set of HL wipers for my 87 and I have as set of the rubber only wiper blade "refills" . So the blade has no ball shaped holder or stiffener inside it. I need to source those metal parts from used wiper blades. Which I don't have. In the pic you can see the metal h...

Re: NEW full Aluminum Wizard Cooling Radiator

Carl, Im sort of interested in this, but the mounting methods for the early e12 cars are completely different compared to the later cars. Those tabs welded to the sides of the rad would interfer with the mounting brackets that are on early cars? No? And the tabs with the slots on the bottom of the r...

OK this is interesting I haven't ever seen anything about this "seal carrier" before. I'll be watching to see how this all goes Song. Just for the record I just got a rebuilt booster from Jay and only had to re&re the unit and send the old one back to Jay. I did it the lazy way . LOL .
