Re: Getrag Transmission Numbers.... Again

Getrag casing numbers are problematic for identification. It sounds like an overdrive 265, not CR. CR is normally associated with the dogleg with 1:1 final ratio. Do you have any photos ?

Re: OBC Removal to Install New LED Light Bar

I have an odd issue with my OBC and wondering if anyone has a solution. From my particular seating position the readout is so washout out that it is barely readable. If I move my head to the left or down to view it from a different angle it become very clear. I have replaced the light with the LED ...

Re: Annoying Transmission Issue.

This could be as simple as a faulty kick down switch. If you have the appropriate ETM, you can work your way through many test procedures on the electronic transmission control.

Re: OBC Removal to Install New LED Light Bar

If you are handy with a soldering iron and can order the correct LEDs and resistors from an electronics store, no need to pay the likes of Garagistic US$40.00 for an LED light bar. Just do it yourself for about $5.00 ! My OBC still running OK on the bulbs, but this is what I plan to do come the time...

Yep, I don't think there was any call for that. This is NOT Facebook please. I've learned a lot from Brickwhite's thread for stuff that I may have to tackle in the near future.

Re: Ex LOCUTUS the fun and pain begin

For the A/C compressor, I chose a genuine US made Sanden SD7 H15 that I found at a really good price. This is the 7 piston version of the old Sanden 508 (5 piston), and has the same physical dimensions. Summers are very warm over here so I wanted maximum cooling capacity available. Unfortunately I h...

Hehe well no Gaz, there was none of that. In hospital all I felt was miserably ill. Back home since yesterday and feeling much better and keeping the mind busy with various light chores.

Re: Ex LOCUTUS the fun and pain begin

Well that was "interesting". After the last post and that afternoon, the swelling got much worse and I struggled to breathe. Luckily, my son in law is a switched on police detective and we warp sped to the hospital under lights. Straight to ED and they knocked me out and intubated so I could breathe...

Re: Stalling under load mystery?

I'm just going to throw this in. Is your car running an aftermarket alarm/immobiliser ? This was my problem when I first bought LOCUTUS. I can't help but think you might need to go to a better indie BMW mechanic ?

Re: Ex LOCUTUS the fun and pain begin

Thanks chaps, I appreciate it. Out out of hospital now and daughter is looking after me. Sore as hell and my esophagus is swollen shut. Had my second anterior cervical fusion (first one 8 years ago) and hoping for a great result. I can already feel the neck and arm pain is gone. Oh goodie, here come...

Tomorrow morning though, I'm under the knife

Doesn't look much like an M88 cam cover to me! We discussed this years ago Ron! Click on the old thread  As far as the Highline interior is concerned, I would have liked it far more in Black! S38B36 engine not the M88/3 No. It's an M88 that has been modified with the dual timing chain from th...

Re: Sanden 508 adapter brackets

My apologies, I should have updated this thread. I have a bit of a fitment problem with these brackets. The bottom radiator hose and ali housing on the S38B36 will not allow easy installation of a Sanden compressor. Currently trying to work out what to do.

Steering reinforcement pin

Thanks to our Customs officials, I now have two of the steering bracket reinforcement pins courtesy of Ron. The first went missing and Ron kindly sent me another. After tracking it down, I found our wonderful Customs officials had classed the first pin as "possible weapon related" item. I shit you n...

Sanden 508 adapter brackets

Hi all. Laid up at the moment and doing some research into restoring the A/C on LOCUTUS. I am in touch with Will Nolan, who makes the brackets to adapt the Sanden A/C compressors to our cars. I would like to gauge interest in this so that we might put a group buy together with a few numbersto make i...

Re: My henna 84

Awesome. Make sure to keep us updated about this project ! I was going to look at aftermarket ECU control for my S38B36 but am sticking with OEM dizzy and good ole Motronic 1.3 for now. Maybe down the track. It's been such a long running project that I just want to drive it :) So if I understand cor...

Re: My henna 84

No problem. I forgot to ask my question. You are going to use an E46M3 throttle actuator to operate the variable horns ? If so, have you worked out the signals because the E46M3 unit operates substantially through the ECU. The reason I ask is that I was at one stage thinking of adapting an E46M3 act...

I will also be looking to revamp my A/C system soon. I have a Sanden 508 clone and The Hack Mechanics "Just Needs a Recharge" (thanks Rob!). Does anyone know if the adapter brackets are still available ? These are the type Song used in this post; http://bigcoupe.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=25858...
