Re: Ex LOCUTUS the fun and pain begin

Hi mate. Yep some progress. I bought a Quikjack which I was waiting on arriving. I've set it up now and have easy under car access. I finally did that coolant flush but the block drain plug was a mutha#$##$$%@#$$$##%$!! bitch. I could remove it easily enough with 2 universals, extension bar and sock...

Re: Headlights and winscreen rubber

baders - you wouldn't happen to have the delivery docket for the lights. I've been onto both sites and the descriptions are not very clear and don't appear to have any reasoning as to why the lights are different drivers to passenger sides. Lights vary according to if it is RHD/LHD right or left si...

Re: Headlights and winscreen rubber

It appears that Genuine Parts GmbH still have all 4 lights for RHD available;

https://www.originparts.de/

I bought all my lights from them 3 years ago. Prompt and reliable service.

Use RealOEM for part number reference;

Re: Tachometer error after full cluster restoration

It is possible that they have installed the wrong coding plug. Would have thought they would test all functions before taking your $ though. RealOEM shows this part number for the pre 6/87 M6; http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/part?id=5514-USA-03-1987-E24-BMW-M6&mg=62&sg=05&diagId=62_0283&q=62111377664

Re: Tachometer error after full cluster restoration

Did they install the same (or correct) instrument coding plug after the overhaul ? You can see the coding plug here in this Programa sheet;

A = does not correspond to fog light switch wiring. B = ?? C = ?? D = Brown is ground. Green/yellow is 12v + from the AC selector switch. Blue is temp sensor input to the heater regulator. Fog light switch wiring should be grey/red and grey. Note this is for a 1986 635csi. You have not specified you...

Re: 1988 M6 for sale

Cars, when all is said and done JZ, are only material possessions. I got divorced some 20 years ago when I owned my first 635csi. Had to get rid of it for the same reasons. I have another one now, along with it's stablemate,my very rapid E46 M3. Time will heal all.

Couple of pages have defunct image links. Looking at the HTML code for Dean's posts show he was using Smugmug for image hosting. Perhaps an approach to them might yield some results ?

Damn shame he has gone :(

The round and the rectangle units are basically the same. You just need the pin outs.The switch should be closed at WOT and idle. This is the E34 M5 unit diagram.

Re: 1980 635CSi Euro

The valve on the housing is simply a spring/piston type arrangement. I believe it can be removed by taking out the massive allen headed plug. When I was looking into this for my S38B36, I found several good basic descriptions online. Here's one; https://www.pgfilters.com/blog/can-happen-oil-filter-p...
