Re: Front Strut Brace for 1988 M6 - Racing Dynamics Interference

There actually is a slight difference with a factory M6. The car has a 265/5 transmission in place of the factory 280. Not sure if that biased the engine/trans mounting slightly rearward or not? Re: Front Strut Brace for 1988 M6 - Racing Dynamics Interference

Just a thought, but how old are your engine mounts? If they have perished at all the motor can move and may be contributing to your clearance issue. FWIW.

Re: Front Rotors

A lot of (tuner?) drilled and slotted rotors on the market are drilled and machined after casting, a cheaper method. The proper method is for the slots and holes to be cast into the rotor and then machine finished. Drilling and slotting them afterwards weakens the structure of the rotor and is unsaf...

Re: How do I identify seat color?

I sent a photo of my build tag to BMW Group Archive and this is what I got back from them. Unfortunately the service is not currently available, perhaps later this year it will be available again. Dear Mr Collins, Thank you for your email. Here the codes as far as I can find them in our lists: Colou...

Re: Shipping a car from Europe

I imported a 2009 BMW M3 GT4 from France to the (Miami) United States (US) back in 2018. The process was not that difficult, but it was time consuming. You will need to hire a shipping company and Broker in order to get the car into the US. I used the following: American Freight Line Southeast, Inc....

I was with Heacock for many years and switched to Hagerty two years ago. Happy with both, but Hagerty was better for me with a multi-car discount.

BTW, nice shot of the car at Sebring in your attachment.

If Home Depot doesn't have a flap wheel in stock, go to McMaster-Carr.com. They have everything! I've bought from them for years.

Re: Bimmerworld legit?

They're legit. I've used them for years and James Clay is a solid guy. It pretty standard for them to ask this with new customers. They get a lot of fraudulent purchases and this process is for your protection as well. After your initial order the process with be like a normal transaction.

Re: Oversized throttle body

Bert- I would suggest going as large as you can get it. In my e36 M3 race car we over bored the Throttle Body 4.17mm to 68mm. We were able to do it since the stock Throttle Body had enough material. On the dyno that single change gained 8 rwhp without any software change. Theoretically it should hav...

Re: Spark plug socket

Snap On makes a magnetic plug socket that works for this application. I use it on the S14 in my E30 M3. It's not cheap but not terribly expensive either. I don't have a part number for it.

I think the M Tech I steering wheel was available on the US spec 635csi beginning in 1985. The badge came on this wheel. I'm not 100% sure and someone else here can probably add to this.

I have used both Redline MT-90 and ATF for years in race and street cars. Highly recommend them. Make sure your seals are good, these synthetics will find them if they are not.

Re: Flywheel is no longer available. Where do I go from here?

I had the same problem on an e30 325e years ago. At that time flywheels were still available, but I elected to have a new trigger pin installed on the flywheel. It was much cheaper. It is an easy process and any machine shop should be able to do it for you. Originally the pins are pressed into the o...
