Re: FS: 87 M6 $20,000
I am in the process of replacing the SLS with regular coils and Bilstein HD shocks and will have the front air dam and small rust spots fixed then I'll try my luck on Bring a Trailer. The body guy I will be using isn't fast but, he is reasonable and for the most part specializes in bringing back to ...

Re: M6 Value with SLS vs Without/Converted
The SLS is giving me issues and I have already ordered all of the pieces from my local dealership to convert it over to standard shocks and springs with the addition of Bilstein HD shocks. I will hang onto all of the SLS for a future owner.

Re: M6 Value with SLS vs Without/Converted
That makes sense... Though I feel my "M" is a very nice example, it is not a 50,000 mile, concourse car but rather a nice clean driver. Maybe in 20 or 30 years miles on these won't matter when they receive a nut and bolt restoration but, for now it seems the SLS removal won't hurt the cars...

M6 Value with SLS vs Without/Converted
The time has come to sell my 87 M6 and I am looking for advice on the value of it with the original, functioning self-leveling suspension vs if I replaced it with all OEM BMW parts and Bilstein shocks. I would place more value on a car with it in place and 100% original but, I see many of the M6s th...

The plastic piece on the end of the switch where the electrical connectors are would actually freely turn inside the metal housing and was leaking fluid. I was told that this should not turn freely.

I only say 115 because that was what is listed on Real OEM.
You wouldn't want to sell one of them by any chance?

Re: Forced Self Levelling Suspension Delete Need Help
The issue is I need the sensor circled in the picture that is leaking. They are no longer available new world wide and a used one potentially would leak just like the one on my car now. I am infuriated that a $99.00 sensor/switch is forcing me to ditch the entire original rear suspension. I tried se...

Forced Self Levelling Suspension Delete Need Help
I am unable to locate a leaking switch on my 87 M6 SLS so, like others, I will be converting to standard coils and shocks. I do not want to lower the car if I can help it and want to match the original front ride height as I will not be changing out anything in the front. I am just not in a position...

SLS 115 Bar Switch/Sensor Leak Repair
The sensor on my 1987 M6 SLS pump is leaking and a replacement not available. Originally I guess the plastic end with the electrical connectors was crimped tightly into the metal body of the sensor. Over time this seal is no longer tight and the fluid that is under pressure has been leaking. I looke...

Re: M6 SLS Switch Emergency
The sensor is off. I used brake cleaner to try and get all of the hydraulic fluid cleaned off/out but, making sure it is all removed from between the plastic and the metal sensor body where it is leaking past will be difficult. I will clean it multiple times and hope that I get all of it so there wi...

Re: M6 SLS Switch Emergency
I was actually wondering if something along this line would work. Clean it really, really well and see if the epoxy solution works. I have nothing to lose. I actually filed a complaint with BMW NA that because of one $99.00 NLA switch that a classic car such as the M6, M5 and the 750iL would be rend...

Re: M6 SLS Switch Emergency
Not available through BMW and every Vender I have called, BAV Auto, ECS Tuning, etc does not have this switch available. Is one originally $99.00 switch that is no longer available going to FORCE me to replace the entire SLS system. Really BMW???

M6 SLS Switch Emergency
My SLS on my 1987 M6 is inoperable. The pressure switch, Part # 61-31-1-364-116 is leaking and I need a replacement. Has anyone eliminated their SLS for other reasons and has one of these switches that they would like to sell? It should go without saying that it should not leak. Mine is leaking arou...

Re: FS: 87 M6 $20,000
Yes, it likely has a swapped in Euro M88/3. This was done prior to the owner I bought if off, a Bimmerfoums.com member and enthusiast, and was something I was ok with. The internals of the head are perfect with a nice bronze "patina" and zero evidence of any abnormal wear on the cam lobes....

Re: M6 Caliper Rebuild Service
I thought I would give it a try rebuilding them myself as it seems pretty straight forward. The issue I ran into is that I couldn't get all of the pistons out of the calipers, even with compressed air, and I really don't want to mess up anything. I MAY have found a local guy here in MA that can do t...

M6 Caliper Rebuild Service
Anyone know of a company that I could send my 1987 M6 front calipers off to to have them rebuilt?
New/rebuilt are prohibitively expensive given that they should be able to be rebuilt.

I've dropped the price to $20,000 in hopes of a quick sale. The car is worth more than this but, Winter is coming to New England and I need the space in the garage.

Re: FS: 87 M6 $20,000
I feel the car is very solid at or close to my asking price. I hate to sell it but, I just bought a Porsche Cayman and have a 325iX project so, I need to make room in the garage. The car has been fun but, not being independently wealthy I have decided to sell the beloved M6 to fund my iX project and...

FS: 87 M6 $20,000
The time has come to pass along my E24 M6 to a new caretaker. This M6 was originally sold in California and was a California car for 26 years until the previous owner bought it and eventually moved to Texas with it in 2013. The car remained in Texas until I purchased it in 2015 and had it shipped to...
