Re: 1987 635 euro spec in the deserts of the UAE
Got the driveshaft installed, the bilstein shocks are in and swapped the brake lines to ss. There might be air in the abs unit so we'll try the brake bleeding again later once all the wiring is hooked up. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4622/39007500635_23df15a1cd_z.jpg Driveshaft installed by the_fo...

Re: 1987 635 euro spec in the deserts of the UAE
Been too long since i posted on here, had some issues that needed sorting so the car got put on hold again. After putting the engine and transmission in we ordered a new driveshaft from Turner motorsports as well as the UUC short shifter, turned out the driveshaft and shifter selector rod were both ...

Re: Old faithful.. my UK daily
Put it back together tonight... The afm is toast, the car is flat taking off. I could only get a resistance reading of 1000 before it dropped off and there is quite a bit of lateral movement in the shaft which noticeably alters the readings when in operation. At least, that's what I'm concluding. A...

Got a Continental head unit (TR7412UB-OR) it's a media player without CD, runs AUX, USB and bluetooth. Lookwise it should blend in nicely with the dash. http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k577/def-00/20170514_194847.jpg http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k577/def-00/20170514_194859.jpg The interio...

Re: 1987 635 euro spec in the deserts of the UAE
Love the intake mani paint job. What did you use? When you get 'er lit up, let's hear if the paint holds up. BTW were those stock valves? Keep at it as you are almost at the finish line. Ken Thanks, it's the standard oem water based body paint, I'm keeping my fingers crossed it'll hold up once the ...

Works been stopped for a very long time and finally was able to get myself together. Had some good luck with the gearbox, changed out the bearings, cleaned it up and made sure everything was free. http://i1116.photobucket.com/albums/k577/def-00/20170418_171018-01.jpeg http://i1116.photobucket.com/al...

Will do Song, trying to push progress faster now to get her all done.
Thanks Dean, I'm not sure where I saw the intake and cam cover photos but was either here or on the Web but that's where I got the idea from.
Thanks Gaz I can't wait to get her on the road and start rowing those gears.

Re: 1988 635csi "Bring Her Back to Life"
The specific engine is up for debate but it will most likely be an LS motor or a variant of that motor. \:D/ \:D/ Blasphemy! That thing will be a beast. I've been thinking of doing the same to a trashed e30 and keep it as a track toy  I've seen that before and they are extremely powerful! Mi...

Re: 1987 635 euro spec in the deserts of the UAE
Nice work, engine looks awesome. I like the black engine block paint way more than the white. I think you would be always trying to clean the white( or I would) I ordered Recaro underseat webbing from Aardvarc and it is OK. Its not as wide as the original which leaves gaps larger than what was ther...

Re: 1987 635 euro spec in the deserts of the UAE
Just some simple Advise.....You must balance the motor WITH the new lightweight flywheel. You will give your engine much more longevity. Check out these guys in England: http://vibrationfree.co.uk/sterling-rattler/shop-2/#!/BMW-In-Line-6-cylinder-Flywheel/p/61513990/category=16322086 Thanks for the...

Let me know if you've got one. I was going to order the supersprint headers but thought maybe in the future as I'm currently ordering a lightweight flywheel, clutch kit and some bits and pieces to complete the manual swap.spitfire980 wrote:Why dont you put some headers on it? Finally have the engine assembled!!! :D While cleaning after re-tapping all the threads in the block to clear them out, the paint started to run off the block so we hosed it with petrol and I went down and got some proper high heat engine block paint, painted the block and the headers with it.
