Re: 1982 CSi Resto
I might have another go then - at £100 a piece and one section NLA I'll have to be very careful! Below is some fun I had with the SI board before buying a new one - which works great - would love to know how to reset the LED indicators... BC7.jpg BC8.jpg If you just mean resetting the service light...

Re: FS - UK RHD M635CSi #226
And to think I was able to buy a lovely straight none-accident M6 for just £2,350.00 all those years ago.
Just needed a new alternator, starter motor and leads to get running again.
What's going on with these prices!!!!!!!

Re: 1982 CSi Resto
Not all of the chrome is available and I'm told (in this thread and I had a go myself) that it can't be removed without destroying it - or can? I managed to remove all my trim undamaged (maybe a couple of kinks that can be repaired) but it took a lot of friggin time, patients, some swearing and abo...

Re: 1982 CSi Resto
Thank you - that's great news as gearbox removal is my least favourite job. Another question if I may - can the wing be removed without removing the window surround trim? I wasn't able to clear the front baffle and hence broke the surround when I lifted the wing off to remove it. Mmmm, to be honest...

Or as Rob mentioned, a Crows foot may be the answerwattsmonkey wrote: ↑Fri Feb 09, 2018 9:54 pm Yes: absolutely remove in two pieces. Crow's foot wrench makes it easier.

Re: 1982 CSi Resto
Thank you all and in particular Don - very useful info and tip - nice brakes btw. I know the electrics can be a bit of a headache but for a 36 year old car I'm surprised anything works - I mean the OBC works fine which is amazing. Anyone know if the Getrag 265 5CR can come out in two pieces? As far...

Re: 1982 CSi Resto
Very cool, and welcome. Regarding the trim, I will have the same dilemma on whether to keep the shadow line look or try and resort back to chrome. Apparently some twat (oh wait that was me) decided 13 years ago that shadow line on a silver M6 was the way to go. Of course now, I sort of regret the de...

Re: Project - This is going to take a while
Right OK sounds good. I don't think I would ever do the fuel lines again without dropping the subframe. It worked out but it was a pain in the ass. Theres always something in the way. I'm actually at the point of replacing the exhaust heat shield on the e12. I guess now I have to paint it like your...

Hi Rob,wattsmonkey wrote: ↑Sun Feb 04, 2018 2:03 pm Great to hear from you! You have been very busy - looking absolutely stunning.
Thanks, yeah - sorry for my tardyness in 2017, just one of those things, hope to press on this year.
I see your flock of 6'es are comming on very nicely.

Re: Project - This is going to take a while
IMAG2390.jpg For any eagled-eyed observers ... the bracket that connects both the fuel tank and guard to the chassis should be underneath (well, according to my original pics prior to the resto) but I perfer it this way, saying that I may revert back when time to fit the exhaust again. Also, the ru...

Re: Project - This is going to take a while
Kev, This is awesome. I missed this project posting somehow. Very nice metal work and rustproofing/painting work. Looks better than new. This gives me inspiration to ( maybe ) tackle the rust on my old rustbucket e24. I am wondering about the fuel pulse damper thing you have installed right at the ...

Re: Project - This is going to take a while
Well, thats it for now but hoping to continue with the front end later this spring. I will also need to replace the rear wheel bearings and abs sensors - but I can do that near the end when I finally place back the brakes. Oh, and all the new fuel lines and brake lines still need to be placed back -...

Re: Project - This is going to take a while
Old crusty fuel system either replaced or restored ... IMAG2306.jpg IMAG2353.jpg The rear dampers and springs etc. where actually in excellent working order as they had already been replaced with BMW OE and did not make sense to change, just needed a bit of restoration. Regarding the repainting of t...

Re: Project - This is going to take a while
Well, what can I say ... 2017 was pretty much a sh@t year for one reason or another which basically meant all work on the 6 series had to be put on hold. Also, the light resto work on the Alpina ended up taking presidence over the 6 series as this car would become my daily transport for the time bei...
