Re: Glovebox Flashlight
for the guys that rebuilt their OEM flash lights, what type of glue did you use? Supaglue - sparingly. Don't glue the seam all the way round. Just a couple of 3mm long beads at the lens end either side of the lens and a couple more at the other terminal end is more than enough. Don't go overboard. ...

Re: My M635 is eating main relays
This problem has turned out to be nothing at all to do with the relays but rather a dying fuel pump just ahead of the RR wheel. Can anyone please help to identify this fuel pump for me? I'm looking for the long sausage fuel pump just ahead of the RR wheel arch but RealOEM keeps telling me it doesn'...

Re: My M635 is eating main relays
This problem has turned out to be nothing at all to do with the relays but rather a dying fuel pump just ahead of the RR wheel. I took the car for a long drive the other day on arrival back from being away for work for 6 weeks. She started fine getting out of the garage. Started again straight away ...

I have a perfectly restored white original 1980's vintage one with battery and LED globe upgrades, but sadly I expect that shipping from Australia will be even more insane.

Re: My M635 is eating main relays
Update: Car has been to workshop for a week and of course didn't fault once while it was in there. See attached workshop invoice and scans of fuel pump relay current draws. https://www.dropbox.com/s/cyilcp4zps3upu0/Fuel%20pump%20relay%20no%20start%20%28redacted%29.pdf?raw=1 So the problem does not a...

My M635 is eating main relays
Three drives and three dead main relays afterwards. I've now run out of sources for the old style 4/5 pin relays that go under the steering wheel valence. The one that powers the fuel pre-pump in the fuel tank. Any ideas? I've got no idea what's going on, but my car is seemingly eating main relays. ...

Re: Getrag G280: Recommend me an oil
Thanks mate, found some MT-90 locally and got that to put in this weekend. Cheers Car in workshop with G280 out No leaks, bit of uneven scalloping on the flywheel, so that's getting a tizzy-up, worn clutch fork pivot bearing (to be replaced), fork is fine to reuse, new clutch (old one looks fine act...

Getrag G280: Recommend me an oil
Car's in workshop right now having a clutch replaced. I've supplied the new clutch, G280 in/out/selector seals + the crank rear main and then completely forgot about the oil for the gearbox!! Need some ideas please. Something that will obviously allow the synchro rings to work but at the same time w...

Re: What did you do to your E24 today?
Finally got the ABS working again! Gave up on trying to source some new genuine front wheel sensors and installed the Intermotor ALS1431 aftermarket non-genuine E28 version length ones instead. Very happy to report they work a treat first time straight out of the box, no dramas at all. Bosch can go ...

Re: What did you do to your E24 today?
Both facelift and pre-facelift E24 brochures show cars with black rear number plate surrounds so can I ask why you think, other than your view of the cheap rattle matt black on your car, that all cars had body coloured number plate surrounds? Perhaps I should have been more detailed in my response....

Re: m635 Exhaust options
I bought a full M88 Fritz's system about 2 weeks ago. You could cut your finger on the inside of the ports. I smoothed everything with a high speed grinder and small flapper wheel. I contacted Richard and he apologised and was going to have a stern word with his sub-contractor. Yep, similar to my e...

Finally got front bumper assembly back on the car as I convert to shadowline, and replaced smashed foglight. Grills r next n that will be it. Re: m635 Exhaust options
Cutting the flanges to separate them isn't a bad idea. However whilst it doesn't seem to be a problem, if you want to relieve the thermal stresses on the flange (which expands at a different rate to the head) then all that is required is cutting a couple of slots between each exhaust port, to leave...

Re: m635 Exhaust options
DRPM. What was the source for those headers ? Will they clear engine mount/control arm mount/steering box for RHD ? They're the Fritz's Bits headers from UK. Yes, they are designed to clear the steering box and engine mount in RHD. You give up equal length primaries for that though. That's the comp...

It's Trapezoidal actually!
But here's the thing: No money. Cost of entry = nil. Yes you can lose, but the most you're going to be out of pocket is $0.00. Where's the risk?

Re: Fuel surging/poor pick-up in tank pre-pump
Early 635CSi had an extra part in the fuel system that may have reduced the chances of fuel starvation under certain circumstances but I am not sure it was 100% effective and it was deleted on later cars. Is this the fuel damper you're referring to mounted near the right rear wheel arch? My car sti...

Re: Fuel surging/poor pick-up in tank pre-pump
Putting an un-gutted actual working pre-pump back in the tank will very likely solve that problem. The purpose of the pre-pump was to prevent just what you're experiencing. I'm really curious why you gutted the pump. :-k At the time I was told this was the 'cheap' way of replacing the in tank pre-p...

Plastic spanner tool for metal caps on metal valve stems
My painted Alpina wheels have bolt-in metal valve stems with metal valve caps attached. I find I need two ring spanners to safely undo the valve caps to top up the tyre pressures. Doing this makes me nervous though because one slip with a metal spanner and I'm going to scratch my painted wheels. I h...

Fuel surging/poor pick-up in tank pre-pump
I've got a fuel pick-up problem which is now getting more and more noticeable as the car gets faster and faster with various new chips and engine mods. On balls-out WOT launches with 1/4 fuel tank indicated on the needle, the car takes off until the fuel surges backwards and then dies halfway across...

Re: Fritz chip for M88/3: what does it do?
Apologies if this is covered already, GazM3's excellent posts touch upon it I know. I understand the rev limit is raised, but Fritz told me the afm will need adjusting to ensure sufficient fuelling. When I heard this from Rich it made me nervous too. Really and truly, this should not be necessary i...
