Cylinder Head Rebuild
So I had the car at the shop getting a custom exhaust, new big brake upgrade and some other minor stuff done. The engine had been running a little rough and I could feel a loss of power. It sounded like there was a misfire and I wanted them to check it out. My mechanic opens the head cover and immed...

Re: Driver side rear brake line will not bleed
do check that the proportioning (bias) valves are both working correctly and installed in the same orientation; if someone has installed one the wrong way round or there is a fault then you can get a problem on one or both rear circuits. It's only one circuit that is giving us the problem (the driv...

Driver side rear brake line will not bleed
So I'm in the process of installing new rotors, pads and calipers. I bought a big brake upgrade kit from Ireland Engineering and got everything installed wonderfully. Trying to bleed the brakes has been another completely different story. I got 3 of the lines to bleed with no issues but the driver s...

Engine Stuttering
So I have a new problem. I was driving on the freeway today and I went to pass a car. the car downshifted, revved up and hit about 4500 rpm and then I heard what sounded like a pop fro the engine and the check engine light came on. Now the engine feels very sluggish compared to before and when I hit...

WTB Exterior Door Handle Stoppers
Hello all, http://bigcoupe.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=26070 As per that thread, the stopper on the driver door exterior handle broke and so I'm looking to buy the stamped steel version that is on 84 models and older. Ron has some but is in the UK so I'm looking for anyone in the US that has the pair...

Why is it not surprising that BMW would replace a part with a lesser quality item?!? Bill, I think the stamped steel version is a substantial improvement. At least I've never known of one to break, whereas the pot metal (zinc) ones break frequently. The pot metal parts were the replacement for the ...

wow! Excellent information! Thank you all very much for your replies. Why is it not surprising that BMW would replace a part with a lesser quality item?!? The problem is, it's just becoming very annoying to have to open the passenger door and lean over to open the driver door and now I worry that th...

Exterior door handle broke
So I've been having an issue with the driver exterior door handle opening the driver door and all of a sudden it stopped opening the door completely. I removed the door panel and found a metal u-shaped piece that was cracked. RealOEM calls it a "stopper" and is part #2 (51211959691) shown ...

I am running the same setup on my car with the e38 m-parallels and 235/40-18 in the front and 265/35-18 in the rear and I have absolutely no rubbing issues either. But the issue is that the offset on the m-parallels in the front is +13 and your new BBS wheels have a front offset of +32. Being that t...

New to the forum. Heidi and her new shoes
Hello everyone! I've been lurking the forums for the past few weeks since buying a new-to-me 88 635CSi. What a machine!!! I've always loved these cars and now I finally have one! e38 M-Parallels with 235/40-18 up front and 265/35-18 in the rears Continental DWS06. I love the way it looks! I'm contem...

a hissing sound? That is odd. Stupid question; you are dipping the oil level when the oil is fully hot, with the engine running, right? That is the way it should be done. It just might be that the filter on the bottom of the tranny is a) blocked and/or b) loose or missing its seal. This would (esp ...

I would inspect the flex plate and the propshaft etc to see that it is still in one piece; something might be broken. I would also check to see that the gear lever is correctly adjusted where it goes into the gearbox. Losing all drive is a bit unusual to say the least. Can you still select 'P'? Is ...

Weird auto transmission problem
Hello all! I'm new to the forum and what a sucky post to say hello with but I just bought an 88 635csi and the auto transmission started acting up :( The previous owner said they had rebuilt the tranny a few years ago. The car shifts into gear and drives but then it will just stop shifting as if it'...
