Re: Vibration from new propshaft
Sounds like the 2 halves of the driveshaft might not be balanced with each other. Did you ever separate the two halves? And if so did you mark them and assembly the exact same way? Being off by even one spline may affect the dynamics as the driveshaft spins quite fast. I assume you are getting vibra...

I would say unless you really really like leather or really really hate the color of the '85 to get the '85.
the L6 has TRX wheels on it which are expensive tires.

Re: M88/3 Temp Gauge, High Idle and Fuel Mixture Fun
I'm not aware of any way to test the fan uninstalled. What you could do is spin the fan by hand when its cold - engine off. Note the resistance and about how far it "coasts." Get the engine warmed up (make sure you leave the hood closed so the fan clutch heats up too). Shut the engine off ...

Re: Have a few drive shaft/guibo/CB questions
Good call on replacing the driveshaft. I'll add in my two cents here. I had a BAD and EXPENSIVE experience replacing my center support bearing (CSB). 1. Make sure you have a quality part. I'm not sure how to quantify quality really, brand isn't everything. Make sure the rubber isn't hard...but extre...

Re: 1984 BMW 633csi 5speed low miles!
I've got the same vintage car (VIN6997510) but can someone shoot a closeup of the wheels? I don't know how TRX wheels are marked. Mine look the same but I don't think they are TRX. Just askin' --Ken Ken yours probably has the 14 x 6.5" "TRX Style" wheels. Mine does and its an 84 633....

Re: e24 overheating?
I've been chasing this issue every summer here in Arizona and so far I've made no progress. The car just runs hot and theres certain times you can't (shouldn't) take it out. The AC is reason enough though. I run hot at slow speeds whenever the temperature is over 95F (35C). At 110F and higher (43C) ...

Re: Chassis rail width
3" in the front where it starts curving up the firewall
2.5" in the rear when it begins to slop up to meet the body.
Measured on an 84 633 but I'd imagine all the e29 based guys are the same.

Re: How to revive or recondition cordless power tool batteries
Not the sort of thing I'd expect to see on BigCoupe, but this is great. I've done this for cordless tools and my Roomba. For those that dont know what is going on when the battery drops below a certain charge level the internal impedance goes up so high that the charger no longer "detects"...

Magnum where were you two weeks ago!??
I ended up buying a transmission from a wrecking yard in Oregon. Probably far from the best deal but it got delivered on Monday so at least I have one now.

I did see that thanks, although I think a 265 is out of my price range for now.

WTB Getrag 260 transmission
I'm replacing my transmission due to a currently undiagnosed problem. I don't have time right now to crack the case open and I hate putting miles on the ///M when the daily is down. It's for an 84 633CSi original transmission was a 260/5, however a 260/6 should also work. I have the sheet metal shif...

Re: Spring compressor?
When I changed my springs I rented the OEM spring compressor tool kit from Autozone. Not as nice as the professional spring compressor I used when I worked at an auto shop but worked fine for me.
