Re: Brucey Update

Good to hear that Brucey is fighting back, if anyone has the stamina and persistence to make the best of the situation then it has to be him. Best wishes and if there is anything we can do (card / beer / dancing nurses) then we should. Also thank Rob for keeping us abreast, top man and a true gentle...

Re: Underbonnet (hood) water deflectors.

Been a while but friend has finally got himself a 'tent' to keep the heat in the 3d printer .. apparently this is needed for ABS printing. His first attempt, needs some work as the print failed after 5 hours: water shield ABS MKI.png Have asked him to have another go, lets get the nearside one sorte...

Can honestly say that without this forum and the friendly help, keeping an e24 going would not have been possible for me.

Keeps me sane and positive through the frustrating times.. and it's somewhere to share the good times.

Re: BBS Style 5 Centercaps

That's a negative Rob, just years of corrosion.

If clearcoat is still on them then some form of stripper would likely work.

Polished are a pain though, have to keep them covered in wheel protector (i use chemical guys, a green goop substance) else they start corroding in a matter of weeks.

Re: BBS Style 5 Centercaps

Ha! E39 fronts are in usual parlous state - will need to get busy polishing and doing my best to replicate diamond cut finish on the E31s. Had decent results polishing mine using a dremel and a 200 pack of cotton polishing wheels purchased form ebay.. metal polish and used each pad for a minute or ...

Re: Correct Transmission Fluid for '85 M635 w/ Green Sticker

Apparently green label 280's (at least the euro versions) were all specified to take Mobil SHC 630. Mobil SHC 630 is approx. a 75-90 fluid... redline MTL is 75-80 and MT-90 is 75-90. Redline themselves recommend MT-90 as a direct swap for the original specification. Might run it for a few weeks and ...

Anchored kindly sent the file over and mate is going to look into ABS printing this weekend. He has printed stuff for me before but not in ABS which i believe is harder to do as its very temperature sensitive.. Anchored pointed out that we may have problems printing the thinner part of these deflect...

Re: BBS Style 5 Centercaps

Brand new only £100 or so for a set - a rare bargain in the BMW world! For what it's worth, you've got the same set up that I'm using on my 635 - the ET20 Rc090s perfect for the front; ET10 RC009s on the back to fill the arches - the 10mm makes all the difference. Even better, I took my time and pi...

Re: Correct Transmission Fluid for '85 M635 w/ Green Sticker

Thread resurrection time gents. Just changed the transmission oil on my M635 - believe it was done around 15k and 12 years ago but thought it best to do again. Spent hours on the internet scouring sites trying to work out the best oil for the job. As Jose says consensus of opinion seems to be that R...

Re: Underbonnet (hood) water deflectors.

I was looking at the drivers side of my RHD M635 the other day. There is no protection for the intensive water pump or large cable grommet, and simply putting an mirror image of the nearside type would do very little to provide protection. If I get time and I'm bored I might wander out to my garage...

If a solution to this is found then would be interested in obtaining a spare 'just in case'.

While mine seems in reasonable condition and is kept covered in ACF-50, at some point it will need swapping out.

Re: Air Conditioning

Does your standard blower work for hot and cool air? Do you get variable speed when when using the fan speed switch and also then it jumps to maximum with a slight click when you turn the dial fully right? Assuming so then everything must be working up to at least the AC selector switch. Heater Air ...

If you have to leave then park the 6 in the middle of your drive, set the hose / sprinkler on it and leave it switched on!

Re: Need help - no heat

Just bought a new Bosch motor for the blower from a company on your side of the pond. Not arrived yet but at ~$90 it seemed like a good idea to replace mine after 35 years use. Regularly oil mine however it still isn’t as free as could be. Apparently it’s not a bad swap as long as you take care when...
