Re: Oil Pressure Gauge Setup

Then it's an M30 engine with the current oil pressure sensor switch (operating the oil pressure light on the dash clocks) on the rear of the cylinder head just beyond the camshaft rocker cover. It has a single wire going to it, and is probably the best and easiest place to remove the existing sensor...

Just under half those made - not bad at all. The rhd E28 M5's are doing better with just over half remaining.

Re: 1986 e24 B10 3.5 Alpina up for Auction, uk.

Mark Adkins, one of the Sytner engineers who used to be part of the team who modified the cars, did a presentation a couple of years ago at an Alpina meet there.

Re: 1986 e24 B10 3.5 Alpina up for Auction, uk.

Does need some rust repair by the look of it. Am I right in saying that it's not a true original Alpina or is there no such thing - were they all conversions? all converted for the UK market they'd take a stock 635csi, en engine would be shipped over from germany, that would be fitted along with su...

Re: How many left 2018 UK?

All those add up to just over a quarter of the rhd drive cars originally ordered for the UK (excluding the M635CSi's).

Not bad for 30 to 40 year old cars.

Lubed up the ever-so-slightly bonkers brake bar mechanism found on right hand drive pre-1985? cars - I used the spray on High temp Lithium grease so fingers crossed it will last a little while. I wonder if this is different from the stuff I'm using on my throttle linkage rose joints (the sticky one...

Re: Fritz chip for M88/3: what does it do?

I'm not sure about any AFM changes but I recall reading the details of the Hartge conversion of the M635 and IIRC all that seemed to do was the rev limiter to extract more power, meaning there was little or no extra power to be gained across the rev range below the extended rev limit... which doesn'...

Re: What did you do to your E24 today?

I stopped using grease on those as it seemed to get cooked and harden so I use some engine oil dispensed from an oil can instead.

I use 3-in-one oil for the throttle cables on each car; disconnect from the throttle linkage, hold upright and let gravity do its thing.

Re: RC090's on a series one .

Far from me to argue against Brucey but ET10 wheels for any same width will sit 10mm further OUT than ET20; if the wheel arch at the critical point narrows from the outside to the inside then this should give more clearance, if however the wheel arch widens from the outside to the inside then it mig...

Up and running now. Thought I'd start with a small car first. Baby steps and all that.
Is the car sitting directly on the long blue plates of the rising part of the lift or some other kinds of pads?

Re: What did you do to your E24 today?

After a whiff of petrol from the M635CSi after brimming the tank I noticed some weeping down the side of the tank underneath the filler area. I siphoned a few litres off then set to battling with that rubber gasket-cover thing that goes over the filler neck. I gently rubbed away the corrosion then s...
