MTech 1 Steering wheel retrofit

I'm looking to replace the steering wheel in my '89 635...I have the 1st generation SRS wheel. I have sourced a couple of MTech 1's but both are smaller in diameter that the wheel Im replacing, and when installed, cut off the vision to the top of the gauges. I can only assume they came from an E36 o...

Amazing what a wax and a new set of wheels can do.

Meet the Bronze Goddess... 89 (11/88 build) 635, 5sp manual. Have owned her for about a year...car was in great shape when I got her and have just been sorting some minor mechanicals out (small exhaust leak, worn thrust arm bushings, brakes) as well as some bolt on improvements. Still need to do a f...

Re: What did you do to your E24 today?

Replaced lower control arms and had a new exhaust flex joint welded in. No more high speed shimmy and annoying exhaust leak! Drives like a dream. Next up, alignment and passenger window weatherstrip replacement.

Anti-lock warning light

Riddle me this 6er masters...1989 635CSi. Drive down the road and after x miles or 20-25 minutes, the AL brake warning light comes on and stays on. Turn car off and wait a while. Restart it and the light is off. Any ideas?

Re: Mtech Steering Wheel on 89 car

They were both fine spline. Got it finished yesterday. Issues ended up bring difference in the thickness of the steering wheel hub and slight difference in the slip ring piece. Works fine now and looks much better than the old SRS wheel. Jack, Im about to do the same swap. Can share which/how many ...

Lighting upgrade options for '89 ellipsoids

Hi folks: Seeking some advice: I've done a fair bit of searching on the forum and have ascertained that my 89 635CSi ellipsoid headlamps use 9006 55w low beams. Output for the halogens should be ~1000 lumens. Several folks have gone the HID upgrade route while others have modded 9011 HIR bulbs to fi...

Re: Hi there from DC

Welcome Sinnerman, It looks very good! Very nice condition! My first Bimmer was a new '86 635 in Bronzit/Pearl. Bought from Crevier in Santa Ana, CA. I bought that color to have my company car exude a subtle old world stately elegance. Best, Thank you Jay, I know Crevier well...I used to buy most o...

Re: Hi there from DC

Welcome. Indeed a very nice color combination. The rims really complete the "classy" look. Sounds like the car has had some very loving owners over its life. Definitely, and agree re: wheels. Im typically not a gold rim kind of guy, but they sure do work with this car and color scheme. I ...

Hi there from DC

Hello all, I figured it was about high time I introduced myself given Ive been lurking the board for a while now. Im a long time BMW guy (past rides include an E39 528, E60 545, E36/8 MCoupe and my current dd which is an E70 X5) who finally bought a Shark. Meet Greta, my '89 635 5 sp in Bronzit Meta...
