Selling my Euro M

Hey all. After a lot of thought I have decided to put my Shark up for sale through Gateway Classic Cars. I'll post the link at the end of this. Owning this car has been a great learning experience. I love the car but I'm running out of space. So, here's a list of what's been done either by me or a B...

Let me know if you have questions.

Re: Muffler

I ran into the same issue with my '85 Euro M. I read threads here about Billy Boat and Super Sprint exhausts but it seemed they were louder than stock and could produce a droning noise at cruising speed not to mention cost. On a whim I looked at Walker Mufflers and found that they in fact offered a ...

Re: Need part # for this o-ring_SOLVED_Press-Fit

Thanks for all the input. Talked to the builder and told me press fit. Old geezers always jump the gun. Tell me about it... At 60 years old I have a saying that I frequently use: There are no mistakes in life. It's all tuition to the School of Hard Knocks. Where I have and continue to earn many PhD...

Re: Need part # for this o-ring

It seems to me that it isn't supposed to have an o-ring there. Was one in place when you removed it? The fact that RealOEM shows the o-ring in grey typically indicates it is not used for that model car and since your dipstick tube doesn't have a groove for the o-ring, I'd bet that one isn't required...

Re: Holy Moly: Replacing the Driveshaft Center Support bearing

Have you checked the rubber flex-plate (guibo) to make sure it isn't too worn? It's a pain but seeing as you are this far in it might be worth checking. Also, be sure to apply some moly coat to the splines on your drive shaft. Hopefully you won't ever have to drop your drive shaft again but you neve...

Re: Broken Dr Door cam/escutcheon

Same thing happened to me. Had to lock car by locking the trunk. I bought the replacement from Schmiedman.com, part number 51-21-1-886-521 for about $120 US plus shipping. It came with a new key. It is an "interesting" job replacing that sucker. Not a lot of room to work. If you do this, m...

Re: Gasket set for M635CSi

I replaced my valve cover gasket this summer. Ordered 11-12-1-312-172 from ECS Tuning and it did not fit. I then ordered 11-12-1-317-689 from Schmiedman.com for $34.93 USD and it fit my S38. well that is weird, the -172 gasket is listed for 'cat equipped' cars (which ought to have S38 motors) and t...

Bell housing bolts

Looking for advice.

Does anyone know which bell housing to m88 block bolts should be used when replacing a Getrag 280 with a 265/6? Can I reuse my existing bolts from my 280 (they are star heads) or do I go with those from a 265/6?
Thanks.

Re: Transmission Fluid Opinions

In an autobox any certified Dexron III will work OK. There may be marginal gains to be had in using another fluid. However in a manual getrag box I would probably choose to use something different from ATF; ATF has viscosity characteristics that suit torque converters, and arguably you can do bette...

Re: Transmission Fluid Opinions

I am currently swapping my Getrag 280 for a 265/6. Had a conversation with Jim Rowe of Metric Mechanics and his advice was to use the least expensive ATF fluid I could find!?! I'll let you know once I am done with the swap.

Re: Purchasing a rebuilt manual transmission 87 e24

Talk to Carl at Kormanautoworks.com. They rebuild Getrag 280's.

I spoke with Metric. They are not 280 fans and offer a 265 reworked for an e24.

Not sure of Korman's pricing.

Good luck.

I have the old exhaust from my Shark. The rear silencer is shot but the mid muffler appears to be ok. Let me know if interested.
