Re: left lower control arm help please

Would anyone have the torque setting for the control arm? I don’t think I have the right number.

left lower control arm help please

I'm reinstalling my Ground Control struts and I'm afraid I just over torqued the lower control arm to strut mounting. The torque wrench was pulling tight, then it went light and I stopped. Did I just screw up the lower control arm? Should I assume I did and replace it? Now I'm afraid of my click typ...

Re: Refinishing BBS RC090 Wheels - Pictorial and Video

Did you use longer wheel bolts or did you convert to studs? If so did the studs interfere with the center cap? What length studs did you use?

Re: Refinishing BBS RC090 Wheels - Pictorial and Video

What size tire are you going to install on the restored wheels? If 235/45, will you rub on the inside spring perch? Mine do slightly. What size spacer/hub centric ring would you use?

Re: 265/40R17 on RC091 rim - will it work?

I found a staggered set down in Long Beach. Seller met me in Bishop, CA for a swap of wheels for cash. They are now at Sierra Wheel Repair in Reno being refinished and polished. Need to get tires to them for completion. Know anyone who's used this wheel combination and tires?

265/40R17 on RC091 rim - will it work?

Will a 265/40R17 on a BBS/BMW RC091 9" wide wheel rim fit under the body work of the rear of a '87 M6? I need to order tires soon and would like to confirm this fits before ordering tires. The fronts will be 235/45R17 on BBS/BMW RC090 8" rims. My understanding is the RC091 has a ET of 27 a...

Re: Another wheel size question

I've found a comment about ET27 for the rear RC091 wheel. I'm not certain of that however. I don't have the wheels with me. I dropped them off to be refinished and re-polished.

Re: Another wheel size question

I haven't ordered tires yet, so I'm hopeful someone who has tried this combination will chime in. I've used 235/45 before and I have a little rubbing on the front strut spring perch, but I'm having the struts converted by Ground Control into a coil over strut and that should eliminate that issue. I ...

Re: Another wheel size question

235/45 and 265/40 have the same diameter and roll circumference 25.4" and 821 revolutions per mile respectively. 255/40 is is 25" and 830 revolutions. I don't know if that makes a difference for the ABS braking system. The wheels are staggered, 8-17 front and 9-17 rear style 5's from a e39...

Another wheel size question

I have a '87 M6 with adjustable suspension mods front and back. I'm looking to buy BBS Style 5's - RC090 front and RC091 back. Will these fit on the M6? For tires I'm considering 235/45/17 front and 265/40/17 rear Michelin PS4's. Will I need spacers front or back? Will I need to roll the fenders for...

Re: Installing the Euro Supersprint exhaust on a US M6

You need to talk to Turner. They are the sole distributor in the USA. They should be able to tell you what you have and what you need. I'm not a big fan of Turner in regards to SuperSprint products. They aren't as forth coming with proper facts as I'd like to see. I won't go there for exhaust items ...

Re: '87 M6 oxygen sensor - what does it do?

Sorry to hear about the eye surgery. I had similar done a couple years ago for cataracts. I did the vision correction implants and wish I had not. I went from near sighted to far sighted to the degree that I have to wear reading glasses 24/7. So the implants really didn't change my vision life very ...

Re: I need professional advice on my '87 M6

In the beginning, this job was being done in a short 3 week time schedule so that I could take the M6 to Pacific Sharkfest. But the exhaust header was misplaced by UPS and Jet Hot couldn't get the work done in time so I missed taking the car to the event. So the process then went on a slow down trai...

Re: I need professional advice on my '87 M6

I did ask for that itemization. They said they would, but after two contacts and requests, they never replied. Two weeks went by, and now I've filed a dispute. I'm working on that dispute document now. I also have an appointment with the Reno BMW dealership to go over the work completed and what the...

Re: '87 M6 oxygen sensor - what does it do?

The shop owner was rather vague in the work they did. I questioned them about why they didn't do the Miller dyno run tuning? Their reply was they installed a wide bank O2 sensor and hooked up to a gauge inside the car. Then drove around town testing their settings. I think they were either padding t...

Re: '87 M6 oxygen sensor - what does it do?

So the car won't run right without the O2 sensor signal going to the ecu - right? So how can the testing being done when using the O2 sensor attached to a A/F gauge? That is how they said they tuned the WAR chip. It seems to me that can't use the same O2 sensor output for both the ecu and the gauge ...

'87 M6 oxygen sensor - what does it do?

Hello gentlemen, I have a '87 M6 and recently had a Miller MAF conversion and WAR chip installed in the car. The shop who did the install, did not do the "usual" dyno session tune function. What they said they did was hooked up a wide band O2 sensor and Air/Fuel gauge to the car and did te...

Thanks for replying. I haven't slept well since getting the bill. I'd love to share the time and cost with you. But since one of the options down the road is doing social media. But I need to go through the steps. All I can say is the total on the bill was the cost I paid for the car. In the process...

Re: M6 Blackstone oil analysis - tell me what this info means please

I just retrieved the car this morning. So it is like a whole new car to me. New coil over setup, new E34 M5 big brake kit front and rear, Miller MAF and WAR chip, Evo M3 exhaust cam gear and fresh oil. Oh and short shift kit with dual shear selector rod. I'm hoping the shift kit breaks in a bunch. I...

M6 Blackstone oil analysis - tell me what this info means please

So I just received my first Blackstone oil analysis. Can someone interpret the findings for me? The Blackstone folks only high mark item was brass/bronze wear. Does anyone know if this is normal for our M motors? Thanks

Re: I need professional advice on my '87 M6

I don't have that amount of height in my barn/garage. So I'm stuck with a 4 post if I do anything. I'll have to wait until the bill gets discussed before being able to buy a lift. Though I can use a 4 post as a parking spot if needed. I'm not sure I'd want to use a 2 post lift the same way.

Re: I need professional advice on my '87 M6

How thick is your concrete where the posts are mounted? I don't think my concrete garage pad is thick enough for a two post lift. I think I'm only 4 to 6 inches. Who made your lift? Is it a tall edition model? Since I can't see the top of the posts, it looks to be really tall.
