My '85 E24 has sold. Enjoyed all five years of ownership. Good times driving and working under the hood.

Re: 1985 Euro 635 CSi for Sale
I can relate :)
I have a twin to your car... a '85 635CSI Euro in Cosmos Blue. I probably need to sell it...but every time I take it for a drive (which is often) I talk myself out of it.

Re: Power to weight ratio....
I used the aluminum control arms when I did a front end suspension refresh a few years ago and noticed a significant improvement in the sharpness of the steering. I used HD bushings and replace all wear components and ball joints at the same time...so no way to tell which component contributed the m...

Re: Going Euro lights up front, looking for advice
I just replaced my Hella H4 low beam lights with Hella H1 bifocals and the difference is impressive. The H1 bifocals are as bright as most modern cars where as the Hella H4 low beams were not that much better than the old sealed beams. I'm giving away my like new Hella H4 lamps to anyone who can pic...

Replaced my low beam lamps with Hella H1 bifocals with city lights. Amazed at the difference. Low beam performance is as good or better than most modern cars now.

Re: A/C abilities
I updated my system to R134 a couple of years ago and learned a few things in the process. -In addition to different o-rings there are a couple of flex lines attached to the compressor that couldn't handle the R134 and were a source of leakage. These needed to be replaced with hoses with a higher pr...

If you loosen the 4 bolts on the chassis rail can you then level the bumper if it is sagging? Is that an adjustment pivot point?

Re: Car cut out while driving - wont restart! Help!
I had this happen to me a few years back. An inline battery cutoff switch was installed at the battery terminal at the time. It was failing. -I'd check for loose and corroded ground connections and a good & tight positive circuit from the battery. -My Main relay got wet once and the entire elect...

Re: Gauge Cluster Finish
The "new" cluster was from an older car '83 but was in better condition. The color is the same as the one in your picture but the finish is more even without a pronounced speckled appearance. https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7852/32511262967_c368a977f1_b.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/48...

Re: Gauge Cluster Finish
My '85 E24 Euro's original cluster had the same look. I assumed it was heat damage since it smeared when I tried to clean it. It was as if the original coating had disintegrated. I ended up replacing it with one in much better condition without the speckles and the smears I made trying to clean it.

Re: Yellow headlight film - FEELER
Here is what the yellow film looked like on both my Headlights and foglights. https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2887/33614021151_816ec59e66_z.jpg I thought the color was fine... then I found a pair of yellow fog lights and didn't want a mismatch between the new fog lights and yellow tinted high beams.

Re: Yellow headlight film - FEELER
I'm currently using Lamin-x clear on both my headlights and fog lights. I used the yellow for awhile then switched to clear. Installation and removal was easy enough and I have not had any issues with them. Both of my headlights are flat faced which made it easier.

Re: OBC Removal to Install New LED Light Bar
LEDs tend to be more directional than incandescent (e.g. 180 deg light pattern) which is not the same as polarization. I think the issue with my OBC is related to screen bleed/backlight bleed which is a degradation of the LCD screen itself. I just so happen to have the OBC out of Dean Cains' '85 as ...

Hi Jono,
Thanks for the feedback. I may try to find a way to dim the existing led or replace it with a dimmer one.

LED Dash lights
I've tried several different brand of LED lights for the 2 red instrument cluster lights and learned a couple things that might be helpful to others. The LED bulbs that will physically fit are in the T10 form factor. Some of these bulbs have a single electrical pad on either side of the tab that goe...

Here is a picture. The image at the right is what I see from my seat position. The image at left is from an angle slightly lower and to the left of my seating position. I think I had the same issue before the LED upgrade so perhaps it is just my unfortunate seating placement and angle. https://farm5...
