Re: Stock ride height
Thanks for the info Brucey, This is a bit of a mine field isn't it. I guess a good starting point would be to try and identify what is on my car currently. I have checked again and there are no coloured flashes on any of the springs. I will try and get in a bit closer to see if there are any numbers...

Stock ride height
Can anyone tell me what the stock ride height is for a euro (UK) car ? My car sits much higher than I would like and possibly higher than intended. It has been rebuilt by the previous owner so I am unable to tell what shocks and springs are fitted. It also still sits on the 18" rims it came wit...

Re: WTB special tool for putting boot lid springs in
I like the idea of using a bit of rope, I will give that a go when I get home. Thanks for the tip.

WTB special tool for putting boot lid springs in
Hi Folks,
I am looking to buy the special tool that is used to refit the torsion springs under the boot lid. Don't mind if it is an original part or a home made number, just as long as I can refit the springs without losing any fingers or eyes.
Cheers

Re: Thermostat opening temperature
Thanks guys, Sorry I have been away at sea for the last few weeks hence the lack of follow up. Brucey was spot on, although I had checked the thin hose from radiator to expansion tank, I didn't check the thin port at the top of the radiator it connects to. On closer inspection this was blocked. I ha...

Re: Thermostat opening temperature
Hi Folks, Having a bit of a nightmare with getting the coolant back into the engine. I thought I had most of it back in, ran the engine with the reservoir cap off. Periodically opened the bleed screw and squeezed the top and bottom hoses. I found that the level in the reservoir began to creep up as ...

Re: Thermostat opening temperature
Thanks guys, Any tips on refilling the coolant ? I have filtered what came out, but can't quite get it all back in. I am left with about 1.5 litres. I made sure my heater control was at hot before I started. I have got quite a lot of air out of the thermostat housing bleed screw, but now just fluid....

Re: Thermostat opening temperature
For my future reference, is there an easy way to drain the coolant from the engine side of the thermostat ? I drained the coolant through the bottom radiator hose, but still got wet when I took the water pump off. Also, are there any tips for getting the coolant back in / bleeding air etc. Cheers Ri...

Thermostat opening temperature
Can someone confirm the correct thermostat opening temperature for my six please? I have a 1986 UK 635csi, I think the part number I need is 11531710953. When I search this on eBay I find many units that claim to be equivalent to this part number, however some are 71 degC and some are 80 degC. I am ...

Chrome side window trim
Hi Folks, I have a 1986 635csi in the UK, she is in pretty good shape but is missing some chrome trim around the side windows. I have the chrome sections that go under the windows, but am missing the four sections that go up the pillars and over the top of the windows, on both sides of the car. I kn...

Re: Where can I get an in tank fuel pump from in UK
Thanks Ron, I contacted the seller and they said that this part is not correct for my reg number. I have since sent them photos of my pump and asked for photos and dimensions of the pump they are selling. They have in turn passed this request on to their supplier and I am still waiting for a reply. ...

Where can I get an in tank fuel pump from in UK
As per title, my in tank pump has suddenly become very loud.
I want to replace it, but cannot find the part in the UK. Can anyone point me to a reasonable source in the UK?
Cheers
