Re: The poor abandoned 635csi..

So this is what happens when the drains aren't kept open and clear? Sorry for the late reply! Yea! The worst case is that the drain hole/run off pipe go porous and then rot/rust leading to a hole which in that case water would leak through in to the interior which is not good. The only remedy then ...

Re: Replacing center console (HVAC) bulbs

Apologies if this is already covered but I could not find any tech articles or posts on replacing the bulbs in the center of the dash (where heating controls are). On my car only the 3 direction sliders light up, the rest of this panel is dark. I assume all knobs and buttons should be illuminated? ...

Re: M88 crank nut removal

Hi Eric, I have not done this on my bmw but on a other different engines before hand, it's a scary but a very helpful trick! Make sure you have the correct socket on the bolt head, fit a breaker bar with a tube or bar over it for some extra leverage if you get me. Rest the bar against the chassis or...

Re: The poor abandoned 635csi..

I'd echo what's been said . Your car has a very desirable original spec. which I'd strive to retain. Wheels ,steering wheel etc . can quickly be reinstated but colour , even done fully , works against any car imo. If you're in it for the long haul that's where the value in these cars is, the "...

Re: The poor abandoned 635csi..

Okay. on the basis of your response about the paint, it sounds like a re-spray is in order. i would repaint the same colour for two obvious reasons; 1, it is cheaper than a full re-color, as you don't have to do the inners and engine bay. 2, it retains the factory specification... No. 2 is the big ...

Re: The poor abandoned 635csi..

an overdrive gearing is one that is too high for the engine to pull it to max rpms, (and often uses the gearbox to gear up rather than gear down in top gear). The air resistance goes up as the square of the speed, so an engine with a fixed amount of torque might pull the car along at 100mph but not...

Thanks for the concerns, and although this picture makes the car look good that's about it, the picture does make the car look good. All the panels are straigh...

Re: The poor abandoned 635csi..

Hello everyone, *Just a little update * I managed to complete all of the repairs relatively quick in my circumstances and got E24 MOT'ed back in January in which it sailed through thankfully. Been getting to use it every odd weekend when I have been home from university. The car drives great and the...

Re: The poor abandoned 635csi..

Yours are definitely sports seats Dave; the usual Recaro's found in an E24 are a different design and electric Recaro's are quite different again. You have probably seen the electric sports seats that were fitted to the E24; early types have button packs around the handbrake console, later types ha...
