Re: Using dual filament bulbs in the tail lights
Hakeem, talk to this guy, Andy, just posted in the "for sale" section =D> http://bigcoupe.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=29518 Hello Hakeem, Been a while since you contacted me on this subject - almost a year? Did you ever figure something out that does this for you? If so, will you s...

Not anything major but I’m interested in the trunk light.

Re: Massive vibration under heavy braking
I had the same exact problem. Mine went away after replacing the upper control arms. My control arms were original and 300k miles old and had absolutely no bushing left on it hence the bad vibrations. I always heard people call it a shimmy but it can be magnitudes worse if left untreated like in my ...

Re: Does the OBC affect the operation of the Odometer?
There's a connector behind the cluster that has something to do with the obc. I left mine disconnected by accident and the MPG and a few other things on the OBC didn't work. Not quite sure about the odometer since mine doesn't work but I guess it's possible.

Re: Wiring a headlight buzzer
Good stuff Hakeem. Very good of you to work all this stuff out and put it up here for us - much appreciated. No problem :). I always try to document everything as I know resources are getting limited with these cars getting up in age. I did get it manage to get it working but had to use two relays....

Re: Wiring a headlight buzzer
Sounds simple enough. Terminals 85 and 86 are the field coil ends that cause the relay to switch. If one of these is a hot wire from the headlamps (assuming no diode) with the ignition off, and the other is a ground, you will have your 'switch'. Terminals 30 and 87a will be continuous when the rela...

Re: Wiring a headlight buzzer
Depending upon where you obtain your relay, take a close look at the diagram on the side of the relay housing. Some of these relays are designed for very specific applications and have a diode built in to the circuitry of the coil function. It will be between terminals 85 and 86, a little triangle ...

Using dual filament bulbs in the tail lights
Has anyone ever thought about using dual filament bulbs in the tail light? If one wanted to wire in 1157 bulbs would they just have to change the socket or would it be more complicated?

Wiring a headlight buzzer
Not sure if there will be much interest around here but I recently took up the task of wiring my buzzer to remind me when I leave my headlights (when switching off the car the headlights turn off but parking lights don't) on. I've seen people using aftermarket buzzers, wiring them differently but I ...

Re: Flashing high beams when lights are off
I drive an 89 US E24. I feel stupid now, I went outside and tested today and surprisingly they work. They weren't working when I got the car, I remember driving and having other e24/e28 people think I'm a douche because they would flash me and I wouldn't flash them back lol. I did pull the cluster, ...

Flashing high beams when lights are off
I've read somewhere that euro cars have the functionality that allows you to flash the high beams (pulling the turn signal/indicator stalk) when the headlights are off. AFAIK in US cars we have to turn the headlights on if we want to flash the high beams. I've been searching for a euro wiring diagra...

Re: Engine Bay Cleaning
I use something called "purple power." Works great on my white engine bay. It does remove a little paint so I'd advice you to only use it if it's extremely messy. Mine had 30 year old crud and nothing else would move it. Try simple/mean green then purple power in the worst case scenario. I...

Re: Cold A/C but only in the back seat
Hi Hakeem, Yes, please post the p/n for us. This kind of thing can be a HUGE thorn in your side when the system is open. If you have to wait a month to get something from the factory, you just bought a new dryer as well, so getting parts right the first time is really important when working with yo...

Re: Cold A/C but only in the back seat
Hey folks, I have done a fair bit of digging and put what I have learned into this thread. http://bigcoupe.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=21047 The regulator in the dual AC cars doesn't serve a balancing function between the two circuits. It balances the output from the dual circuits to the pump. My un...

Re: Cold A/C but only in the back seat
On later e24s the rear charges before the front. It could be undercharge, a leak or bad expansion valve. Unfortunately I also have the same issue. Tested and mine has no leaks. Everything on my system is new but i still haven't been able to figure it out. My high side is at 200 with r152. Get 40 deg...

Re: Best electric cooling fan improvement for a 6er
You can use the SPAL 30100401 16 inch pusher fan. 16 inch is the biggest that can fit(assuming you use a 16x19 condenser). I used it along with a parallel flow condenser and have had no issues. Make sure you get the "pusher" fan and not a "puller" though. I uploaded a picture an...

Jose, Can you repost the pictures regarding this thread as I'm doing an a/c refresh with a new fan? Photobucket seems to have screwed everyone. Re: 1989 635csi - A Hero Car
Catback was done to my liking, thankfully. Sounds great, and has an awesome idle tone! However, I need to curb the exhaust leak up front from the decimated flex joint on the stock pipe. Mine is taking another trip back into the exhaust shop to have new downpipes installed. Bought a set from a decen...
