Re: Massive vibration under heavy braking
Just had mine fixed. The issue was rather simple - a totally perished ball joint on the passenger control arm. My mechanic did not spot it at first because when everything is mounted it seemed pretty tight. But once the control arm was removed, the ball joint practically fell apart. I suspect it was...

Re: Massive vibration under heavy braking
I am experiencing the exact same issue. Did you figure out what was causing this?

How to completely disable the ABS?
As the title states, I'd like to definitively disable the ABS on my e24. Pulling the light from the dash did not work. When I apply medium pressure on the brake pedal (like coming up to a stop sign) I get some vibrating feedback from the pedal and that "crunchy" ABS sound. It happens occas...

Hesitation on warm starts
A nagging issue I've had for a while. Cold starts: No problem Hot starts (drive, park for 5-15 min) : No problem Warm starts: (drive, park for 45min - 1 hour +) : takes about 10 seconds of continuous cranking for engine to fire up. Things done - Injector cleaner added to gas, replaced MAF box, repla...

Re: "brake" light in gauge cluster
Resurrecting this post as I'm trying to elminate the red "Brake" light. Using the tips above I traced it down to a pressure switch on the side of the brake accumulator. I am wondering is this DIY job to replace? I assume I should release the pressure from the system by pumping the brakes b...

Re: Opinions needed- e-bay suspension kits
Was about to order one of these E-bay kits until I read this. As good as it sounds to get a complete kit for $300, I think going piece by piece with OEM will be cheaper in the long run.

Re: Replacing center console (HVAC) bulbs
Great, thanks for the tips. I will be replacing the stereo head unit in mine in a few days and will attempt to reach the bulbs through that aperture. Otherwise will try the glovebox route.

Replacing center console (HVAC) bulbs
Apologies if this is already covered but I could not find any tech articles or posts on replacing the bulbs in the center of the dash (where heating controls are). On my car only the 3 direction sliders light up, the rest of this panel is dark. I assume all knobs and buttons should be illuminated? D...

Re: What did you do to your E24 today?
Had a good laugh when I discovered that PO had computer fans installed instead of the blower motor  . Not sure what amazed me more - that someone would do something like this, or that it actually worked! http://i1177.photobucket.com/albums/x357/YuriPershin/Mobile%20Uploads/Attach11543_20170407_...

Re: Removal off dashboard vent "Plugs"...
I was working on a parts car the other night and wondered the same thing. These caps are so tight, if I didn't know, I would assume its just solid plastic - can't even see an edge. Will try again with a scalpel.

Hey from Toronto
Hi All, Just wanted to introduce myself and my new project. I'm in a perpetual search for modern classics, having owned a number of Italian, Swedish, British and German cars. I only get involved with turn-key cars as I don't have the skills nor time to work on big mechanical or body projects. But I'...
