Re: Temp gauge problem. Ideas? 1983 635 euro
I think you're looking at the wrong end of the circuit. Sounds like the sender is kaput, not the gauge. Thats why im grounding the sender. It should redline the needle which means the sender is bad. But the needle doesnt move when the cluster is in the car. Anyway the sender is new and works for su...

Temp gauge problem. Ideas? 1983 635 euro
After the purchase of the car i started a full restoration what just got finished. I drive the car but the gaugue does not work (i saw it working once). When i turn the ignition key it moves up a little bit. If i ground the sender the needle doesnt rise. I checked the wires with DMM from the connect...

Re: Brake light warning light
IIRC a bad ground connection (quite likely if the control box was rusty before?) can result in some fairly erratic behaviour. If you have a DMM it may be worth measuring some ground wire resistances (eg on both the bulbs and the control box itself). Alternatively measure the voltage of wires/connec...

Re: Brake light warning light
sorry I didn't read what you wrote carefully enough, tails lights.... it is only the brake light check panel that comes on and goes off as I describe. I have had episodes of tail light warning and it has always turned out that there is a duff bulb or an intermittent duff connection in the light hou...

Re: Brake light warning light
if you can check the current drawn by each bulb you may find that they are not all the same. The bulbs can come 'on' without drawing their full whack of current if the connections are a bit grubby or if the bulb ratings are lower than they should be (eg if there are LED bulbs fitted....). Also note...

Re: Brake light warning light
I have a tail light warning on the control panel. The lights are working when i apply the brakes. The brake light switch is new as well as the bulbs. The control box in the trunk was rusty but overhauled by a specialist and he confirmed its working. I tried a different control box (from a younger 63...

Re: power steering intermittently stiff
Hello. I bought a '83 635 to fully restore. Everything was taken off the car. After assembly the steering feels very heavy all the time. The car is not ready yet but i tried the cars breaking and cornering ability slowly in my yard. The steering unit was taken apart (and set with friction meter corr...

Re: 1898 BMW Instrument Cluster SI batteries removal/Replacement
The batteries and the quarter of the panel what holds them was damaged. A guy replaced the batteries and soldered everything what had to be. The car is fully restored, everything was taken apart. I tried the renewed cluster in the car. All the lights worked. The green leds of the service indicator t...

What are these parts and where are they located?
