Shims removal help
Doing valve adjustment on my M88/3. I was able to remove 1 shim. But unable to remove the next 2 remaining...Tried everything. Compressed air, pick, won't come out....Any ideas ?

I wonder how many people lose the shim completely, blowing it out with compressed air sounds a bit dicey.... It is impossible to blow the shims out using compressed air. Using air is not a method in removing shims, mainly the air is used to break the oil suction and clearing excess oil between shim...

I bought a NOS 31 mm Volkswagen complete shim set in its original VW Italy wooden box from the 70's on EBay ! A real time capsule.Nice find for $ 250 USD...

According to previous readings over the last couple of years, it seems the Baum tool is more fragile than the original BMW/Bosch one and I would not want to risk a metal fragment getting lodged inside the valve/camshaft/cylinder assembly...This is why I'm finally glad I went with the original one...

Finally, after discussion with the BMW Classic Group in Germany,I discovered the tool is easily available from BMW in Germany. You just have to order it from a dealership. But be aware some dealerships don't want to sell you tools so you have to explain them that they are required by BMW Headquarter...

Finally found it directly from BMW in Germany. Ordered via my local BMW dealer. They have it in stock in Germany. BUT $$$$ !!! $ 430.00 USD
