Re: Pacific Sharkfest 2021 pix
Thanks for posting these pictures Bob. It was a great event for us with lots old friends (and some new ones too). Unfortunately I wasn’t able to get much in the way of photos. I did manage to get one shot of the the “new” guys that made the longest drive down from northern Oregon and Washington befo...

Re: Motronic basic wiring diagram.
Hi, I can't help with the diagram but I do have the same model and it's not going anywhere soon so if you need to try an ECU swap or something, that could be arranged. jps635, any chance I could also have a copy of that diagram? Cheers. Olympia57, I too have a late series-one car with Motronic that...

Re: Post Surgery - Car fires & sputters but will not start
Reporting back with Diagnosis: Head gasket blown between #5 & #6. Leak down test helped verify this. Also have bad valve seals but thankfully no bent valves. The head is an '86 so has the bigger valve bores and parts are plenty. So, new head gasket and valve seals. While I have the head off, it...

Re: Where is Brucey, I hope this isn't the answer...
This is very disturbing news. The last post that I found from Brucey was back in January but from what I understand, his participation on this forum reaches back to its early days. I am a much more recent recruit that quickly learned to value Brucey's thorough and eloquent input. His depth knowledge...

1981 BMW 635CSI Euro - M90 5 speed Car is running Motronic 1.x with a 735 ecu / MAF into an enclosed CAI / 24lb injectors 2.5 bar FPR Last summer the car was parked due to a misfire and sputtering like it was running on 4 of the 6 cylinders. Decided to tear it down and re-do it correctly. The PO wa...

Re: 1980 Euro 635 CSIA
My piston are grooved vertical from bad oil maintenance and driving hard with a cold motor, pistons expand quicker than cast steel so they grip to the cilinder wall. I saw this when I took the pistons out and the owner of the shop where I took the blok to for flattening the top warned me about it. ...

Re: 1980 Euro 635 CSIA
I believe that pistons or no longer available for the M90 engine. The very few adds that I have seen for new old stock pistons have been priced above custom fabricated pistons. I am curious to learn what lead you to seek new pistons. Perhaps a collapsed piston skirt or a badly scored cylinder wall? ...

Re: M90 questions
My intake valve is: Valve stem 7,95mm Valve diameter 45,85mm Total lenght 107mm Does anyone knows what the dimentions are for an M30 intake valve? M30 and M90 valves are the same with exception to later b35 heads that have 1mm larger intake valve heads. I believe the specified valve stem diameters ...

Re: M90 questions
When I did mine, the block was true, but the head needed a skim. I don't recall anything standing proud from the head, and I was able to leave the alignment parts in the block in situ. Lowering the rebuilt head has to be done gently and accurately to avoid those alignment parts scoring the newly ma...

Got them out now the next thing to do is clean the block surface https://i.imgur.com/JUGhsOy.jpg Prior to reassembly, completely clear all the head bolt holes of any residual oil or debris. Re: M90 questions
In my opinion, this version of the tool is one of the more elegant. It has an advantage that it is adjustable for any cam profile. I did noticed that the dimensions and angles given on-line seemed a little off. Presumably something got lost in my translation? So far I have not found a need to fabric...

Re: M90 questions
Hi Mopar, My apologies for chiming in late on this. As others have alluded to, you can utilize the M30 engine specifications to rebuild a M90. Basically, the engines only differ in basic bore/stroke geometry, piston crown design and cam profile. Your question regarding our engines' suitability to ru...

http://www.e-24.ru/eng/theory/colors/1976-01/ Thanks for this link. There is some good information on the E24 site and I especially like how it organizes things by build date . However, I am still a little unsure about fabric interiors and series-one cars. According to the site, the combination lea...

Cloth Interior
I am looking for images of and information about series-1 cars with factory cloth interiors. From what I understand, almost all cars shipped to the US received leather interiors. Series-2 cars appear to have fabric inserts in the door panels and the seats completely covered in fabric. From what I ha...

By the way, I have an unrelated request.
If you have any photos of that cloth interior, it would be great to see them.
Over here in the US, we rarely get to see anything but leather interiors.
Your car being a series-one with what looks like original Recaros really has my attention!

Yes, pulling those intake manifolds are a challenge. That paint mark looks similar to what is on M90 from my series-one with Motronic 1.0. The small double oo on yours is interesting. You can look and see if there are numbers that match the last digits of your VIN stamped on the flat boss above the ...

Re: Series 1 central vs left side exhaust exit
I am not going to admit how many series-one cars we currently have at our family shop. However, I can confirm that the Euro cars have their exhaust tips shifted left of center and US cars have them centered. Both US car and Euro car exhaust tips are pointed straight back in their original form.
