Re: Completely confused as to why my engine isn't running right
I did check to make sure the speed and ref sensors were in the correct location. I just got my ECU back from Module Experts. They said that the one I sent in (the one they replaced my original one with) tested bad and they needed to send out to their warehouse for a replacement. Took over 2 weeks to...

Re: Completely confused as to why my engine isn't running right
I was able to check the speed and reference sensors and they both were creating a pulse at the connection with the harness as well as their respective pins at the ECU. Now that I know they are sending a signal, does that point to the ECU? Also, has anyone used ModuleExpress? Thanks again for the inp...

Re: Completely confused as to why my engine isn't running right
I forgot to mention that I have tested the sensors back to their respective pins at the ECU for continuity to make sure there are no breaks in the wire harness, and everything tested OK. I purchased the refurbished ECU from ModuleExpress out of Florida. Everything that I am seeing is pointing back t...

Re: Completely confused as to why my engine isn't running right
Also, has anyone ever heard of nodes falling off of the flywheel? Wanted to check all the boxes.
Thanks,

Re: Completely confused as to why my engine isn't running right
Now that the Indiana winter is over, I can focus on getting my sixer running again. I have now replaced all electrical sensors. I wasn't playing parts bingo, but every time I took one apart to ohm out, the plastic part disintegrated. I am the 2nd owner of this car, and nothing major had been done to...

Re: Solenoid wiring
I know it is supposed to go on pin 50, but I cannot see on my solenoid if that is the top or bottom. The car ins't cranking at all and just checking to make sure it's wired correctly. Thanks!

Solenoid wiring
All,
I searched but the only article I could the picture link was broken. I am trying to figure out which pin the black and yellow wire on the starter solenoid is supposed to connect to for an 85 635csi. Any help would be great, and a pic would be fantastic!
Thanks,
NK

Re: Completely confused as to why my engine isn't running right
Brucy, The car is currently not starting. I have tested all of the grounds, and will be replacing them with new wire tonight. They tested ok, but making up new wires is not difficult, and an easy preventative step. The coil has power on terminal 15. I currently have no spark. The car cranks strong, ...

Re: Completely confused as to why my engine isn't running right
Ok, I'm back after a long long trip, and hoping to figure this out over the next week. Daz, I double checked both reference sensors and they are in the correct position. From what I can see, there is no way to adjust them on depth, is that correct? If I do have to adjust them, how would I do that? I...

Re: Completely confused as to why my engine isn't running right
So I received my two new speed and reference sensors. I tested them and the same thing. They show a resistance of 1k on the first two, and an O/L on the other two. This is the part that I ordered. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B000CF5UGM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It is th...

Re: Completely confused as to why my engine isn't running right
I called my dad, and he just left. He owned an e30 for years and years, and thought he may have some insight as well. Of course, we struck out again, but he brought up something I had not thought of yet. Before I replaced the ECU, I replaced the timing and speed sensors, hoping they would be all tha...

Re: Completely confused as to why my engine isn't running right
ps. I have no spark directly from the tower, and I do have power on terminal 15. The coil also ohmed out correctly.

Re: Completely confused as to why my engine isn't running right
So I had replaced my speed and reference sensors when I replaced the ECU. Went back through that PDF you posted, thanks for that BTW, and when I got back to section 8, almost skipped it. Brand new Bosch sensors on a never before run car. Decide to test any way, and am getting proper resistance on te...

Re: Completely confused as to why my engine isn't running right
A long due reply. Thank you to those who have responded. Unfortunately work took me away for a while and I have just been able to get back on the car. I have replaced the CTS and CPS, checked the FPR and AFM. Wound up sending in my ECU, it was shot. Sent it to ModuleExperts to be repaired, and it wa...

Completely confused as to why my engine isn't running right
Hello all, Long time lurker, first time posters, as I finally own my first e24!! I have owned several e30's, but was never able to own a beloved 6er. On to my issues So I purchased the car from a friend, who used it as a daily for about 8 months. He did a lot of general maintenance work, however whi...
