Re: 1981 635CSi For Sale - Euro Spec M90

Wow.. I really like this car. Is the whole interior cloth? Or are those front seats just swapped in?

Also, I'll be the first to ask.. are you willing to sell & ship any of the extras you are including with the car?

Re: 1980 635CSI Euro Spec hennarot all original 53k miles

E12 Euro Dogleg Slick top Recaros No rust Low mileage Fix the foam under the hood. Clean it up. Get it running. Hire a professional photographer. Post it on bring-a-trailer and it's $20k+ Don't do any of that and post it on Craigslist and maybe you get 12-14 for it after letting the ad run for a few...

Re: Factory Looking Headunits

I ended up buying the Bravo IND-400BT. It has a red display, looks basic, no CD, Bluetooth and all of that jazz and only cost $17 on amazon warehouse deals. I think normally it was $40. It fits the bill perfectly for me. Two downsides: 1. The faceplate is "thick" and sticks out far past th...

I would reference the firstfives.org technical archive for swapping advice on this subject. It doesn't bolt right up, but at the same time, it's also not that hard.

E12 based performance muffler

I'm probably going to do a project thread at some point, but I figured I would post this first. I needed a 3" inlet muffler for a turbo build I'm doing on my e24, but wanted a "stock" look. The muffler is a Gibson 758219. The offsets on the tail pipes are too sharp to bend. So I bough...

Those rials are beautiful. Do you mind if I ask what paint you used to paint your intake manifold? Or if there was any special prep you did?

Re: FS '79 E24 Kyle Texas $5500

I seen this ad too. I'm not local, but in one of the pictures you can see rust on the right rear quarter. Even so, it's a good price for an early euro model, crack free dash, manual transmission, etc. I can see someone buying the car for the wheels alone, and this thing being back up for sale at the...

Re: Getrag Transmission Numbers.... Again

I do have pictures. What were you thinking? I mean, what should I take a picture of to identify it better? I don't doubt that it's just a standard 5-speed transmission, but post after post on BMW forums has me confused now.

Getrag Transmission Numbers.... Again

I started looking into this because I'll be upgrading my clutch soon, along with parts needed to firm up the shifting. The reason I don't really know what transmission I have is because I have a 1981, but it has a M30B35 from a later model. I started to wonder if the motor and transmission was swapp...

Re: My "Solution" for no Bilstein Sports for E12 based Cars

My original plan was to machine the shoulder of the shock shaft down like brucey mentioned. When I showed it to our machine shop foreman he had two comments: is the shaft hardend? And how to hold the shock in the lathe without it turning. The shaft is hardened. Which worried me when running a die ov...

Re: Early e24 HVAC Troubleshooting

Pod: I HAD an aftermarket AC, it was poorly done, I didn't like it, and I live in Wisconsin, so it was all tore out including the blower under the dash. GRNSHARK: That PDF is VERY helpful, and a bit comical. With that air flow chat, it seems like my system may be operational with the exception of th...

My "Solution" for no Bilstein Sports for E12 based Cars

In case anyone decides to lower their car, but then finds out that Bilstein only makes HD shocks for the E12's now. This was my solution. See pictures. Threaded shaft (it was definitely hardened and took a while) at M10x1.5 all the way down to the stepped edge on the strut shaft. Then had a machinis...

Instead of going for something that LOOKS period correct. You could always get something that IS period correct. The best kind of period correct:

Early e24 HVAC Troubleshooting

Hopefully I'm remembering all of this right since the car is taken apart right now. When I put the temp on hot, and turn the blower on, and vent selection is "normal" only cold air comes out of the vents. When I put the temp on hot and leave the blower motor off, but turn the vent to defro...

I started doing a picture search on Google and quickly realized that not all the pods had the 4x6 speaker grills and some are blank. I guess that explains the confusion. Thanks for the info gentlemen.

Recaro Seat Parts

I'm looking for the handle on the upper side of the seat that you lift up to get in the back seat.

I'm also looking for the plastic handle for the front lever to move the sear back and forth.

Thank you

Mystery Speaker Pods?

In my quest to find out what is original and what has been modified on my car, I'm starting to think my speaker pods are not original. Did the early models come like this? Is this something that was offered by an aftermarket manufacturer at some point? Looking for advice.

Does anyone make these? I have the bike exif calendar from last year (which I highly recommend for motorcycle guys) and I'm wondering if anyone makes a vintage BMW automotive calendar.
