SOLD 1987 M6
1987 M6, 150,000 miles $21,000 I’ve been working on this car for about a year now and I can say that I have successfully moved it from “fair” to solidly “good”. However, the next steps in the journey are more expensive and I’m starting to lose my nerve. It needs paint, and to be truly exceptional, m...

WTB - US bumper end, sun shade
Looking for a left front bumper end, BMW p/n 1869769. This is for the US bumper, so if you swapped your car over to euro bumpers you might have one lying around! [-o< Also in the market for a rear sunshade, my car originally had one but it wasn't included when I bought it :( Thanks for your help!

Free dashboard
Free dashboard from my 1987 M6. Before you get too excited, know that this thing is rubbish. The leather wrap is baked and peeled back at the corners, and the ductwork is all busted up. But if you just need or want a "core", it's yours for the price of shipping. Free if you're in the Seatt...

Re: Glovebox Flashlight
Looks like Bama has gone missing - no activity in quite a while.
Anyone else have a DIY for rebuilding the flashlight?
Thanks
EDIT: NM, found this: http://www.meeknet.co.uk/E32/Torch/Index.htm

Does anyone know what the reddish goop is on the circuit board and how to remove it? I'm changing out my 1990 lithium batteries

WTB: Dash vents
Looking for the plastic vent trim that goes on the passenger side of the dashboard. It is long, but comprised of 2 pieces. My car is an '87 M6, but this piece is common on many sixers, not sure how far back. Probably 1985-1988.
Thanks

Re: Rear Window Speaker Shelf Repair
Resurrecting this thread because I'm currently in parcel shelf hell... I won't get into all the gory details, but let's just say that I have way too many hours into this and it still looks bad. The 2 main issues: 1. Particle board is crumbling, especially around the ends of the opening/riser. I've r...

Re: S38 throttle body bellows
Wattsmonkey, you were right. I did soften them up a bit with a heat gun on LOW, but no lube was needed. https://i.imgur.com/w2dFrzfb.jpg https://i.imgur.com/uyzh3GXb.jpg To others attempting this - don't try to save your 30 year old bellows. They've lost all of their plasticizers and not survive the...

Re: S38 throttle body bellows
As near as I can tell from REALOEM, they are indeed the same. REALOEM insists that these cars (M6, M635, 635csi) either have M30 or S38 mills - no M88. We all know that's wrong, but simply looking up the bellows PN for M6 and M635 yields the same number. So maybe just force it. I'm thinking I'll war...

Re: S38 throttle body bellows
I too thought that heat might be the answer. I heated up a small saucepan of water and stood the trumpets/bellows in it for 20 seconds or so. The first one came off with little struggle so I thought AHA! But the rest tore during removal and in fact after a couple I didn't even bother with the water....

S38 throttle body bellows
Hi gang - The M6 is coming along nicely - completed inspection 2, changed out a bunch of PS hoses, O2 sensor, and just put a new set of injectors in. Running much better, but not perfect. I noticed that a couple of the rubber bellows between the accumulator and the throttle bodies were cracked and d...

Re: Exhaust Gaskets
Well, losing the cat would mean custom made intermediate pipes, with an O2 bung. I'm not ready to go that route, unless someone tells me that these cats are known for plugging. The matrix looks unbroken, but because of the curves in the inlet/outlet I can't shine a flashlight through to check for pl...

Hey Kyle -
Just shot you an email about the dash trim. Let me know if it is in decent shape and what you want for it.
Thanks
Bryan

Exhaust Gaskets
So I just dropped the cat on my S38 so that I could change the O2 sensor. I'm running down the gaskets I'll need for reassembly. There are 2 between the cat and the resonator/muffler section - 47 and 50 mm. And allegedly there are 2 donuts between the cat and the manifold. I say allegedly because my...

Re: Fog light question
Oooh! Thank you, I didn't know about these guys! Unfortunately I don't think any of these will work. My lens is about 16.5 cm across. The ...067 lights are 14.5 :( That's what I got from Pelican, too. And the others that come with holders ($159.62 each) say they are H1, mine are H3. No dimensions li...

Re: Fog light question
Thread back from the dead! Jose - if you are still around, I'd love to hear how the Pelican lenses worked out. I'm sending mine back as they are not as wide as the originals in my M6 (build date 12/86). If Dean's not around, perhaps someone else can weigh in on the solution to busted hellas. I under...

Thanks Ron!
That is the piece that I am missing. The radio is the factory KE-81, hopefully I can find one of these cages that works.
Best -

M6 radio mounting
Hello all - My '87 M6 has the proper radio, though I haven't quite got it (or the computer) sorted out yet. The radio is just kind of laying in a hole in the dash. The dash doesn't appear to have been butchered for an aftermarket system, but I don't understand what is supposed to be holding this hea...

Did my first ever S38 oil change, followed by a transmission fluid change. The latter was great fun without a lift, working entirely by the braille method!

Thank you for this. I was equating it to email, where "stuck in outbox" means "failure to send".
I appreciate the clarification!
